After many many searches for a well thought out tutorial on applying water color effects, this one was the best I could follow. My challenge was using your steps in PS 2024, but in the end worked very well. It took a little doing to learn how to apply the brushes (Kyle versions) and adjust opacity here and there. But excellent results! Thank you!

Do you use the same values has he did? Just curious since I'm using a higher ppi value of around 300 since I am also looking to print.
@yemarican
@yemarican Жыл бұрын
@@PlxsmicX8460 I personally use the resolution of 300 at least. Now the height and width of mine are so much bigger. If you're looking into printing, then I would suggest ALWAYS use high resolution images. You can always shrink the photo or image and not lose quality but with a low resolution image you cant really do much.

@@yemarican Ok Cool, so do you use the same filter values as marty did?
@yemarican
@yemarican Жыл бұрын
@@PlxsmicX8460 No.. I actually never have used any of those filters (yet). but it is indeed a good tip to keep in mind in the printing field, whether you print on paper, fabric, glass and so on. I am sure the values will differ based on what image you're working with.

Thanks very much for this comprehensive tutorial. I especially appreciated the explanations of what different settings are for. I had some very good results with objects. Less with faces, but I do realise that's because I understand settings should differ based on the image and I don't really know what I'm doing yet. 😅

Hi After converting photos to watercolor, does the dpi and resolution increase for large prints?
@BLTV_Photoshop
@BLTV_Photoshop 2 ай бұрын
The dpi (resolution) remains the same if the final image is enlarged. Consequently, the image won't be as sharp. The larger the print becomes, the less sharp it will be. The best way to create a large print is to start with the size and resolution you want the final print to be. Accordingly, some of the filters and brush setting amounts should be increased as well to get the results you want.

Thank you for these videos. However I have a question, how can I print these? I noticed you use a resolution of 72, too low for printing. I tried raising the resolution to 300 but it didn't work out, you did mention if you use a higher resolution filters will have to be adjusted. However I'm not sure which ones need to be adjusted. These are too beautiful not to print and give as gifts. Can you do a video on when you want to print the beautiful work. Thanking you, in a advance. Or maybe some of your followers can help?

To use 300 ppi, the following settings should be larger - the paper pattern's scale, the Dry Brush's size, the Blur's radius, and the watercolor surface brush size.

@@BLTV_Photoshopfor 300dpi i’ve tried it but it doesn’t work as it works on 72 dpi. Could you write the exact amounts for each filters ? because , it quite depends on which number you put. I really want to have the same effect with 300 also 😭

I'm a pretty beginner user of Photoshop so I'm struggling to make my image 72 dpi without making the image quality become so pixelated. It seems to look best at the size I need at 300 dpi. I'm trying to put an image on a 4x3.5 inch size document to print as wine labels and when I try to adjust the dpi to 72 without resampling it makes my document over 17 inches wide. Likely user error, but how would I adjust my settings differently if I went forward using the 300 dpi scale?
@BLTV_Photoshop
@BLTV_Photoshop Жыл бұрын
You can either go to Image > Image Size and make the image size 300 ppi and just change the width and height to your specs OR... open your Crop Tool and Crop presets. Click "W x H x Resolution". For its resolution, type in 300 ppi. For its width, type in 4 inches and for its height, type in 3.5 inches. Drag the Crop's bounding box to frame your image to your liking.

Generally, the larger the image size and/or resolution, the larger the setting amounts must be in many (but not all) filters, layer styles, and brush sizes. In other words, just play with the setting amounts to get the desired effect.
