Can I alter the script for Webp images? I would seriously consider adding that functionality as it is greatly needed in the Wordpress/Website space. The current solutions that are out there are very cumbersome. We already have Photoshop and this script currently isn't in play. Best of luck to you.

It's made for Photoshop. Doesn't work without it.

Do you have any recomendataions or updates to help improve the selection/background removal of internal bits? For example I have some fake trees with intertwining branches, and the script tends to leave the background in between branches. Any thoughts?

You are not likely to find a script to automate that kind of work. That requires craftsmanship. Search YT or web for Photoshop masking tutorials. I would recommend channels @PiXimperfect and @PhotoshopTrainingChannel. Both have great tutorials about using features in Photoshop for tricky masking like trees and hair. Good luck!

Not possible with this script. You'll have to make a separate action for that and batch process images on your own. I am working on an advanced version of this script and have considered adding a "run an action" option to it. I'll give that some thought.

Incredible tool! It works pretty well. I just noticed that it skips some images. Is this a Known bug or am I missing something?

Does it skip the same images every time? Or randomly skip some? If always the same images, can you open them OK in Photoshop? If randomly skipping images might be a resource problem (not enough memory?) The problem needs testing to find the cause.

@@simonkang2784 Random I suspect an interruption reading from the storage device. Is it local? Network share? Cloud storage? Next thing to try is put files on a local disk (other than the current, if already local) and try again, to determine if the storage device or connection to it is to blame. If a healthy local disk works OK, then likely the storage or connection you've been using could be unreliable.

Yes and No. There are older scripts that this one borrows from: Batch Multi Save and Auto Crop (see my channel page for videos about those). Those scripts can do much of the same (and a few other things). But this script combines features of those other scripts in perhaps a way that ends up more valuable (auto mask the background, for example). As with all good ideas, one usually leads to another. Really this script could do print files the same it does web, it just needs options to save PSD and TIF added (easy), and maybe a few tweaks under the hood to make output specific to press needs (like convert to profile added, also easy). So I guess it's time for a new script -- "Batch Print Images" -- does that sound like what you're thinking? Thanks for the feedback. I think you just sparked another great script idea... all my best script ideas come from users.

"Have the transparent background be black" makes no sense. It's either transparent (no color) or it's black. To have a black background, add a black solid color fill layer below the masked layer.

@@wc7 Well I was able to make it work using remove background > select subject > inverse > fill black 100% opacity. My images are png but get a jpg thumbnail in this software and those thumbnails are retaining the old data besides being cropped. I was just wondering if I could update the script to add this action I created

@@lukamagicc You're most of the way there. Before fill 100% black opacity, add expand selection. Experiment to find a good value. 5 maybe 10? Your resolution used will affect it. Then you'll fill more area including area around the edge of the subject.

This won't remove background using ps cc 2015. Which one you prefer?

The script uses "Select Subject" that was introduced in Photoshop CC 2018 (version 19). Earlier versions the script will not work as intended. For best results use the latest version because Select Subject has improved greatly since it first appeared. This year's release (version 23.5 currently) does a much better job getting an accurate selection (making a better cutout) than any prior version.

The only problem with this is the settings are not saved when you create the action. Every time you run the script folders, the margins, format stay the same.
