hey, have hard time figure out... how to color code let's say only half of the text with 45 degree angle - meaning 50 black and 50 white but angle/slice in between

The easiest way would be to make a copy of the type layer. Make one copy of the text black and the other white, and then hide part of the text on the top layer using a layer mask.

It was. Although I have one suggestion: 1. you can set the colors channel to 16bit when you create a new document for much smoother gradients. I kinda noticed that the black and white gradient on the text looks really sharp due to 8bit can only hold up to 256 colors while 16bit can hold up to 65,536.
@PhotoshopEssentialsChannel6 жыл бұрын
That's a great suggestion. The only problem I see what that, and I'd love to hear your thoughts, is that most people wouldn't know what "8-bit" and "16-bit" means. I try to keep things simple so that everyone, even beginners, can follow along. Maybe I should make a video on the benefits of 16-bit over 8-bit?
@laszlozsurka89916 жыл бұрын
Yes you should make a video on the benefits of 16bit over 8bit, because there is a big quality difference between 8bit and 16bit which can mostly be noticed at gradients. Only disadvantages of 16bit are: >You can't apply filters >The file size will be slightly bigger Advantages are: >Sharper colors >Smoother gradients
@PhotoshopEssentialsChannel6 жыл бұрын
Sounds like a great idea. Thanks for the suggestion! Of course, another way to expand your colors is by setting the color mode to Adobe RGB instead of Photoshop's default sRGB, but that's a whole other topic.

@@PhotoshopEssentialsChannel I helps to know the difference between the pen tool and the path tool. I did reach a small impasse when I save the letters on their own label using layer via cut. The layer saves but I don't see individual letter in the layer. On thing I'm doing different from this great tutorial is I'm not using a background document. I have my text on an image. That may be my issue. I'm snowed in here in Memphis so I'll keep pecking away. Ultimately I want to individualize the letters on images. That would be so cool and overlap them. Maybe my approach is wack! Hey thanks for responding.

That's definitely a stumper. I'm trying to recreate the problem you're experiencing, but so far with no luck. You're sure that you have a Shape layer selected in the Layers panel?
