This one had a deep impact on me, because I finally grasped the concept of blend-if and the knock-out techniques. Ben Willmore had something similar years back and I watched it with great results, because he mentioned as you did, that this knock-out technique is rarely touched on. I have been experimenting with the channel mixer, it seemed like a really amazing tool, but it is certainly very difficult to master unlike calibration tool in lightroom where the process is very different, could you do a video to show us how to use the channel mixer like calibration tool? Great tutorial, thanks! Imagine, you habe a blue lake in the foreground of your landscape picture. Making the sky replacement via the blue channel and Blend If will also render the lake transparent and your sky pic (the bottom part of it) will show through the lake. Now, since there is no layer mask on that channel-based Blend If, how would you prevent the lake from becoming transparent?

Great Video as always, Jesus. I wish it was just a video without live streaming. The comments was annoying. I've always wanted to know, but haven't thought about asking till now. For a, let's say, 25 minute tutorial on color grading for example, how long does it take you to actually shoot the video from start to post? I ask because I'm a vehicle enhancer and wheel designer and I use photoshop every day, all day. It takes me about 9 hours to perfect my composite. Thanks and again, great tutes!

Well generally speaking a tutorial like that would take about 12hrs. Including planning the tutorial, recording, and editing.

Depends on the project, They're all good. But because of the nature of Blend If, maybe screen or multiply.

If you're trying to create a selection/extraction of something, I'd actually argue that Normal is the most useful with Blend If. This is the most controllable way to introduce luminance-based transparency into your layer while still allowing it to both darken and lighten the underlying layers. For similar reasons, I also really like using Blend If with the blend modes in the Overlay group.

Yo también he estado curiosa en esto durante mucho tiempo. Pero hay otros Ramirez que no usan el acento. La mayoría de ellos son estadounidenses, en mi experiencia, y viven en los estados en que no es permitido tener acentos en un nombre legal (California es así, y Jesús vive ahí mismo). Si nació en California, su nombre legal probablemente es Jesus Ramirez sin acento ni en su nombre ni en su apellido. Pero en inglés, "Jesus" se pronuncia en manera muy diferente que "Jesús", así que es posible que Sr. Ramirez simplemente quiere que los angloparlantes pronunciamos su nombre correctamente (y con "Ramirez" no exista el mismo problema).

Simple math: how much does photoshop is costing you (assuming you are LEGAL user, and not a PIRATE ;) the last time I used it's cost was somthing like 10 bucks a month or so. 120$ a year, right ? It doesn't matter you are using it or not. Affinity is like 50$ (25$ with discount, discounts are very frequent) and Affinity satisfies all my needs, so why the f**k should I pay more ? Yeas I understand, if you're making money with photoshop it's your everyday TOOL, than YES - THERE IS NOTHING THAT CAN BEAT THE PHOTOSHOP.

Can't rn 'cause have no pocket money and no earning as a college student. Could have pirated other ones too but I will prefer photoshop even for cropping stuff. I just prefer the legacy stuff. Like even though there is curvature pen tool i use the old one. Similarly for this one. Won't work if i have to beauty edit 100s of things in a day. Surely I'll prefer luminar in that case.
