I am pleased to say I knew this. I have created a layer above the Blend If layer, then, merged down, to get the cut out look. I just never thought about a Smart Object! Doh! Cool! Thanks!

You're welcome, suruha2306! Yeah, This way you don't destroy the pixels but the way you describe works as well.

Yes, this is much better than creating a mask for the sky. Making the layer a smart object is a great refinement. Thanks so much.
@JonathanThompsonStoryteller6 жыл бұрын
Brilliant tip and one I wish I'd used on a previous image where the sky was totally flat grey and I wanted to put a nice sky in. Can I assume it would work in the same way? Thanks for all your tips Jesus Have a great weekend Cheers JT
@PhotoshopTrainingChannel6 жыл бұрын
Jonathan, the short answer is yes. The long answer is you may need to use other sliders not just blue, and layer masks. Like in this video from 2: 35 to 5: 15. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hYaYY3ynZrOEh7sm35s

I'm at work right now, and have VERY limited time for instructional videos, so these shorter ones are valuable to me. In fact, I had one small interruption during THIS one, but at least only one, and I was ALMOST able to watch it all the way through at one time. :)

I love your 90 second tips. They are just right for my memory. Learning one thing at a time before it gets lost while I'm trying to learn the next thing on a long video means I truly learn it. I also know exactly where to go to review it, if I need to. Thanks. I've watched almost all and every one builds on my PS knowledge easily so that I don't have to learn from scratch.
