Right after reading the Wikipedia article about CHAMORRO LANGUAGE, i found and listened to this video. Wow! what an excellent presentation. By the time i was half-way through, i was able to STOP as soon as you turned the page for the next expression, and READ the Chamorro out loud, and only THEN play your saying it .. and i was so happy to get the right pronunciation in more than half of such attempts. Thank you for providing such a novel and clear introduction for me. You should be involved in a Chamorro-revival Language Institute.

This surely sounds like one of my dear former boss/Board Member, Sinora Rosa Salas Palomo. She is truly one CHamoru educator who educates the technical of the CHamoru orthography and the proper way to its appropriate sound and pronunciation. I surely enjoyed working in writing CHamoru w/her as she revised my work and I surely learned a lot in regards to orthography (UTUGRAFIHA), as the Former Board Secretary of the CHamoru Language Commission. It requires writing, speaking, and being able to read and comprehend the CHamoru language. CHAMORU LANGUAGE is dear to my heart as my first language, and English as my secondary Language, but though was raised in Los Angeles for 20 yrs, CHamoru was spoken daily to us at home by my parents and CHamoru elders in LA and WA as my mom was active member for the CHamoru Club in LA and WA State. Biba Siñora Rosa Palomo, BIBA CHAMORU yan BIBA GUAM!

Is the CH supposed to be capitalized all the time? I'm guessing it is influenced by the Spanish orthography of "Ch" which was/is considered a single letter of the alphabet, but in Spanish the "h" part is lowercase.

I noticed this is a deeper dialect of Chamorro than the popular one. They didn't use lots of the Spanish loan words.

@manuelfloresescobar7657 no you are wrong, yu is not from yo, sentence structure and these pronouns are austronesian. We have spanish loan words but do not use any Spanish pronouns or grammar

Interesting language. It sounds to me somewhere between a Polynesian language and Tagalog. Does the accent mark in a word (i.e. á) mean the entire word is spoken faster?

***** Thank you for telling me. I can understand it when listening, but I can't speak it back. My grandparents never learned to read or write it. They said they weren't allowed in schools and when they moved to the states the knowledge was lost. I never really learned. Do you know a good place online to learn. I really can't go to Guam. The costs are insane. I just don't have it.
