Bro thank you for the informative and comparative videos. If not for your vids I wouldnt even be considering a resin printer let alone planning on getting a Mighty 8k. I felt like I was drowning anytime I tried to look at resin printers because there are just so many and equally as many variations. I jave been FDM printing for years and finally feel like I could call myself well versed in it so now I'm excited to begin learning and producing in resin. Definitely would not be taking the leap if not for your videos!

Having been in the hobby for over 3 years now and hung out on a lot of different creator discords for most of that time, there are a LOT of people out there that just want the simplest plug and play experience with a 3d printer and I think needing to crack open the printer and do this upgrade yourself is going to dissuade a fair number of buyers but especially that plug and play group who are probably too afraid to open the case of their PC to spray out dust.

65 inch 4k TV here. I think for the specification chasers this is a viable upgrade. Though I think for the less tinkery a hard pass, I'm still impressed they created this upgrade kit.

the makers need to lay off the "pointless upgrades for things most people can't see" for awhile (like 3 or 4 years) and dedicate themselves to A) making printers that uniformly and consistently work the way they are supposed to and B) getting a QA process down so that they send out printers that live up to point A above. The only thing that the end users care about is that they just work. Every time.

new to resin printing, strongly considering the Mighty 8k. What cure and wash station works best for this printer size? any filaments that work well for soft flexible TPU like? or foam like resins? with squish and rebound? or does this need to be modeled? not sure if this is possible, as resin prints need a drain hole and foams with great rebound are best when they are closed cell. thoughts?

Honestly, I really hate wrenching on my printers. To the point where I tend to buy multiple resin vats just so I don't have to deal with changing the FEP because I find it to be such a PITA. This is an upgrade I wouldn't want to do, but I am glad it is an option for people that do. For me, if I want an upgrade that badly then I wait until I am ready for a new printer to get all the other new hotness as well.

I have said this before and I will say it again, I couldn't careless about this resolution race.. I want to see resin printers become as user friendly as FDM printers because that is what is stopping from becoming much more popular. I would argue the only reason why this resolution race exists is because it's is much cheaper and easier than actually making Resin Printers more user friendly. The lack of innovation is beginning to worry me, it just seems these days it's a case of "hey you know new printer we released 3 months ago that was basically the same as the one before it and one before it, yeah this is pretty much the same but it has a new knob, new paint job and erm... We moved the usb slot by 1.23 inches.. YAY FOR US!!!"

Yep, everything you have said is -00% spot on. I mean, I would argue that resin printers are easier than FDM anyway.. in terms of dialing a material in. But yeah, on the slicing side. We have a way to go. Support algorithms that work on support size and peel force. Overexposing supports to make the tips brittle and snap easier. Auto peel mechanisms for the plate more integration if heaters, specifically vat heaters. Something to move us forward We need the Bambu of resin printers

My saturn 3 ultra is putting out almost perfect prints no grain with sunlu resin 1-2 minutes of fine sanding in a couple support areas and done

Agreed! I told them that too. but they are now the second company to release a 12k screen upgrade but not upgrade their existing 8k printers to 12k Uniformation have followed suit.

An upgrade kit is always appreciated. I have only 2 questions: 1. Who uses flat head screws in the 21. century? 2. Why do you need to replace the led driver?

1. still used on electronics connections to avoid slipping 2. The 8k screen is either more or less resistant to the UV than the 8k one, so this changes the light intensity.

The ones in this video were at 0.05. you can see a 0.03 example of the same models in my Mighty 8k video. I've done it at 0.05 here for a very specific reason that will come to light in my future ACF Vs PFA Video

Hey Faux, I’m interested it getting my very first resin printer. I do have an obsession in fine detail in minutes and have always wanted to make small garden statues. My plan was to get the mighty 8k, learn how to use it and then purchase the upgrade to the 12k once I have mastered the printer comfortable…but there now phrozen has brought out the mega 8ks. I’m just wondering if you are planning on doing a review comparing the 2 printer? Highlighting the pros and cons building on a larger platform and of course speed comparison in prints

Those 2 aren’t really comparable. Mighty 8k is the detailed printer. Mega is for larger prints but not quite as high quality. Do you want to print detailed things or big things? If both. Get the Mighty 8k and print as large as you can. If you want to print big things, get the mega, but you’ll sacrifice detail.

FYI: The camera is garbage and is the first thing I tossed out and ran a cable thru that hole for a heater to mount in it's place. This is a much better use of that space.

It's delayed, this video was released about a week ago to members. But at the beginning of each month, I update the list to include the members who joined in the previous month. Butt right now I'm still editing videos I made last month too. So next month you will see your name added from last month. Another point regarding to the Brand new printer X upgrade. IMHO relase of brand new printer need more time, you need certificate and test it for electricity safe. You need safety declaration for several markets (EU, USA, ASIA) So in that point of view is quicker to deliver the upgrades that says, "Hey we are still in market" and get your old customers in focus while working on brand new machine. Look at the Prusa, he has non competitive printer on the market. Less build volume, less resolution, triple the price and absolutely no communication to the customers and fans with annoncement of new machine. I heard a rumor "top secret" rumor, that he is working on new one,, but without right marketing I am not going to wait for something..so I switched to the uniformation when I see the progress and potential for future upgrade. And Phrozen do the same thing IMHO.

I agree with you, i like the ability for a 12k upgrade, and i am focused on buying the mighty 8k p🎉ice/microns and buld volume it just seems like a good machine But the 12k seems like a half effort losing features on the board not fixing the canera Also your videos seem to put 12k at a luxury not a nececity Seems like their mega 8ks could have benefitted from the 12k upgrade and skipped the 8k altogether, now that would have been something

Yeah that’s a let down that you loose WiFi, but trust me, there’s no point getting the camera working. I did ask why not upgrade the Megas, but there’s no screen out there yet.

I don't see the need to replace all with m5's as it's mainlt the resolution I am after. I will keep an eye on that brand although they are a little more expensive if you meed 6 😅

@@FauxHammer I just checked and they do have an 12k upgrade kit which is great. Now i am very comfortable of buying the GKtwo as it is excistely what i wanted. Heated plate to make sure consistent temperature! it can be 40 in the middle of the day and 10 at night.

Ok, Faux, I’ve got a question for you. Here's a what if serial. Let’s pretend money isn’t a factor because let be honest hobbies are usually never cheap so where ever you save you end up spending your left over coins somewhere else. ie resin, brushes or paints. If you had a choice for building miniature, what would you choose out of the 3? Saturn 3 ultra, mighty 8k or mighty 8 with the 12k upgrade. (I know the phrozen 12 k upgrade has software issues but you be able to tell if after installing the upgrade has potential once they iron out the creases, hopefully in the near future). Based on capabilities, user friendly, support (ie hardware replacement or software updates) and reliability. What would pick out of the 3? Because I see the build quality in phrozen but I see more capability in the Saturn 3 ultra. BTW your channel is awesome! Keep the reviews coming! From Oz

Thanks So much. So, If money was no object, I'd probably go for the Phrozen. However, in saying that, I'd do it only when they get the Software issues fixed, which they should have done already. And I'd also find a way to get a light inside it so that you can see what the camera shows.

Thanks you your honest opinion. You now made my mind up on what to get. I’ll definitely click on your link to help your channel out. I was wonder…… why they continued to leave the camera in after all the negative feedback they would be getting about it? I would have just kept it simple and install a multi role usb port or hub of some sort and just leave it up to the owners to decide what extras they would want to purchase that would works for them. Just think of the money they would have saved if they didn’t have to buy and install a poor quality camera not to mention phrozen would more likely be more flexible in competitive pricing. It’s a good marketing opportunity for phrozen. The idea of modify your 3d resin printer….upgrading your printer to well like you said a better camera, led light or even a basic filter. ​ @FauxHammer I am confusing about that marketing. Both Phrosen and Uniformation. Yes If my old LCD is gone it is nice to have 12K replacement by your hand. But why they do not just relase new printer ? (same hardware with 12K display and wifi dongle in it) and for existing printers brings this upgrade solution? I have GKTWO which is perfect, but jump for quasi 12K to rectangle pixels... Maybe I am understand Uniformation. They still are not able to cover whole world demand even from GKTWO model, so manufacturing cappacities could be the reason (I guess not only Uniformation and Phrosen)

There will be a reason, probably several. Cost to do it, recertification of a product, increase in general product price which would put more consumers off. Honestly, I think 12k is a rather pointless step made by brands and instead we should thank brands who brought something new to the table

I think they wanted to stand out as a Green company from their competitors. It also reduce shipping costs which also reduce carbon footprints. You are correct, unless you needed to replace the screen, otherwise on one would go for unreal 12K from real 8K when it can do all the existing jobs.

I would definitely do the upgrade if I had the 8k and needed to replace the screen anyway but I wouldnt rush out to get the upgrade if my 8k was working fine. Heck my Mars2Pro is still chugging along and making really good prints, at least in my eyes. I am waiting for my Saturn 2 to arrive today! I wish more manufacturers would do these upgrade kits, especially on the bigger sized printers as they are the pricey ones. Getting a Mars2 Pro for $150 and then buying a screen upgrade just seems silly to me.

Honestly, if you’re getting a Saturn 2, 12k is a very minor addition. Only the Saturn 3 ultra actually has some significant benefits, and none of those are resolution.
