But, having said that writing songs is definitely an creative outlet for truths to-be-told! I think also, that a lot of artists give away their own-power - when signed to a label .... and they just expect the record company WILL do 'an excellent job for them - the artist' and sadly this is definitely NOT the case!! I mean they had Kelly Clarkeson singing 'grunge' - that is crazy!! Kelly (who can sing Aretha-F) was/is anything but grunge .... The same too with the-great Phyllis - I think her voice missed a huge opportunity in the soul-dance-music scene .... which had a better energy for Phyllis Hymen to be part of ... None-the-less - Phillis' ability was exceptional .... xx

Actually the bed of flowers was to hide Phyllis Hyman size. I have watched many interviews and they tried to hide her alot in this video.. In the purple and that high hairstyle all upper shots only one shot full body and that was a quick shot...So I believe they were trying to her her body under the Flowers.. Even if i die of natural causes, nobody will find me for weeks or months. This is my reality, not to harness sympathy. Phyllis was in a very dark place, but her decision to end her life, must have been like freedom from the pain, even for a very short moment.

Phyllis cut 8 LPs within 18 years on 3 record labels, with the final 3 via PIR: her debut album on Buddah, Phyllis Hyman in 1977; 4 on Arista: 1979s Somewhere In My Lifetime and You Know How To Love Me, 1981s Can We Fall In Love Again?, '83s Goddess Of Love; the Philly International Records sets are: 1986s Living All Alone, '91s Prime Of My Life, and lastly (and sadly), she started to write I Refuse To Be Lonely in May '93 after the tragic passing of her friend, Linda Creed, her mother and grandmother; eventually, she entered into a downward spiral, seeking solace in food, booze and drugs, only to fix the pain momentarily; in April '95, she was in concert with Regina Belle; scaring the Hell out of her, by having 2 books on the table and mentioning death, until, eventually, a hot, steamy Friday afternoon in June: the 30th, to be precise! As I would eventually wind up in the Men's Shelter around Phyllis's 46th bday, 7/6/95 (she arrived in 1949 in Philadelphia and the family moved to Pittsburgh afterwards!), Aunt Fredella had told me, "Terrence Allen, your girlfriend had just committed suicide"-when I heard Phyllis Hyman, I cried and cried; but she's in Hell burning forever: The Lord says it best, "Whosoever shall conduct self murder, shall NOT be forgiven; not in this world, nor the next world to come"! I mentioned it to Aunt Fredella, and she laughed at me, repeating, "Y'all, Terrence is crazy; he don't know what he's talking about"-so be it, then!!
