This is the first edition of "Healthy Aging Headlines," which will cover current health research that has been published within the last 2 weeks.
This week reviews a longitudinal investigation of over 11,000 women in Australia who enrolled in the study in 1996 when they were between the ages of 45 to 50. The participants completed questionnaires every 3 years from 1998 through 2019 when the group ranged from age 68 to 73. The researchers analyzed the surveys to determine the influence of activity level on quality of life as measured by the Short-Form 36 (SF-36). With positive effects on physical functioning and vitality, this study provides additional evidence that consistent physical activity is a key factor for aging well.
