Great video! I work as a home health PT (Medicare B) in Manhattan and I have everything I need in a hiking bag 😅 I use public transportation ( city bus , bike, subway) and walk A LOT to see patients (10 block radius). I see between 6-8 patients in a day. It’s New York minute every work day! All the best!

Thanks for the video Tony! I am looking into transitioning into home health from acute setting. Would you mind going over home health rates for PTs and how to negotiate? Will continue to support your channel! Thank you in advance!
@TonyDo
@TonyDo 3 жыл бұрын
Home health average rates will vary based on region so do some research there. Then you want to go direct to agency vs utilizing a staffing company (middle man) essentially to maximize rates. For negotiation make sure you're knowledgeable on PDGM and explain WHY you should get those higher rates. Feel free to DM me on Instagram or email for a more in depth conversation, but i'd start there and see what agencies are around you / what PT's on average there get.

Do you think it would be beneficial to wait 1-2 years before starting as a HHPT? In terms of increasing your clinical knowledge or skills before heading solo?
@TonyDo
@TonyDo 3 жыл бұрын
Yes and no. Home health has such a steep learning curve to it that it’s tough regardless of experience. Increasing clinical knowledge will help in certain instances, but at the the same time I feel like when you’re in a specific setting for x amount of time your mind just naturally gravitates towards that way of thinking and approach. That can both be helpful and a hinderance if that makes sense. I think more importantly what’s important for home health is being organized, fwd thinking, personable, resourceful, adaptable, and being able to juggle numerous things at once.

@TonyDo
@TonyDo 3 жыл бұрын
PTA's are definitely needed in home health! As for the 40 hours... i'd say on an average week with everything factored in between driving, phone calls, seeing patients, documentation, team coordination, meetings, and scheduling I clock in 40-50 hours/week. Something to keep in mind is that I also see 20-30% above productivity expectation on most weeks.
