MDs are not the best sources of nutrition advice beyond basic knowledge (like recommending you add spinach to your diet if your blood work shows low iron). Registered dietitians go to school for like eight years just to study food whereas MDs only get one or two classes on basic nutrition. If you need more specialized advice, I’d recommend either following RDs online or setting an appointment with one if that’s feasible for you

There are 10 people who are too intellectually challenged so they want cancer, or who just hate that women are finding a way to survive and men too, my husband had prostate cancer. the 5 years I spent being vegan and exploring the wonders of soy, he would not touch it. He got stage 4 cancer, could not wait for a diet change, he had surgery vs. chemo and radiation. He is vegan now because he had to go through the horrors of that surgery to know there is something dreadfully wrong with the American Diet. In my family: my mother and my sister died of breast cancer; on my husband’s side, his mother died of breast cancer. She had fought cancer for years, started as colon cancer, went to the uterus, then on to the breast. She LOVED Dairy, but Dairy did not love her. Almost all of the tastes and textures can be mimicked by plants. You don’t have to give up good eating. Things really do taste good. Plus they rely on desensitization of people to the suffering of animals. It’s just a different level of greed than from someone who grows vegetables. Interesting, I just sat down to a big bowl of granola, raspberries with soy milk and this popped up on my feed! Glad I can feel good about my choice...switched from regular milk to soy milk a few years ago and saw a big decrease in my BP, which I was pretty psyched about because I've been on anti-hypertensives for years!

I also wonder whether soy is healthy because it so happens that, since the intervention of Monsanto in the agriculture of Argentina, all soy is 100% GM. There are some 'organic' soy products but, are they really organic? Inevitable question.

What about for growing boys? If raised by a vegetarian past the age of 12, and getting more tofu than ever getting meat from the ages of 12-19, may that stunt a boy's hormonal development?

I have recently bought Dr Bernards book. And I have gone completely vegan with no animal products, no Dairy, no oil. My question is about beauty products. For example, I have some cosmetics & a bath oil that has coconut oil, shea butter and olive oil in it. Knowing that the skin is the largest organ of the body, and a permeable membrane, will using these products affect the diet in any way?

Should you avoid soy products when recovering from an iron deficiency if your on a plant based diet? Or should you just have soy products separate from high iron foods/ meals? Slightly hard as it’s used for protein in main meals. Any help is much appreciated
@whatwherethere3 жыл бұрын
Most people to don not interact with Soy in any manner discussed in this video! Most people interact with soy as an oil. "To produce soybean oil, the soybeans are cracked, adjusted for moisture content, heated to between 60 and 88 °C (140-190 °F), rolled into flakes, and solvent-extracted with hexanes. The oil is then refined, blended for different applications, and sometimes hydrogenated. Soybean oils, both liquid and partially hydrogenated are sold as "vegetable oil," or are ingredients in a wide variety of processed foods." These compounds are not health soy beans but foreign materials in the body. Understand that if they can make a tire out of it, then the more processed it is the less you should put in your body.

I can't believe there's a conspiracy that "a plant full of protein is bad for you" If you eat soy, btw, then it's all about texture and seasoning. Even meat on its own is boring without picking out on how to get the right textures and seasoning.

Personally I have bought, tried and completed drinking powdered soy milk (good quality brands) over the course of several months each time at 2 or 3 different occasions. I notice the feelings of sharpness where my kidneys are and it stayed throughout the course of the milk. Why I pressed on and tried to finished those cans I don't know. Maybe, I believed it was good for me. Anyway, the feelings of sharpness disappeared once I finished the course. As I am lactose-intolerant, I just had to try again after gaps of a year. Again the sharpness returned while I continued the drink. Eventually, I just stopped buying and drinking powdered soya milk. I do have soya products in my meals but only in fermented forms, occasionally with dried soya tofu or steam tofu dishes. Sometimes soya as a dessert. The idea of it as a daily health supplement is false (maybe even dangerous) in my opinion. I do enjoy eating soya the way I am doing now but have no need for such so-called soya supplements given that I have enough fruits and vegetables on top of regular kefir/yoghurt and cheese.
@BWater-yq3jx10 ай бұрын
At least you were smart enough to work out that cheese has almost no lactose in it. Such a common misconception about that. As for lactose intolerance, have you tried taking probiotics regularly? I suggest the high dose acidophilus+ quality brands that come in the fridge.

I’ve eaten plants only for over 30 yrs (low-fat) and introduced tofu last year as the base for daily salad dressing. The past several months now for the first time in my life (im 45) I have PMS symptoms, the only thing I’ve changed in my diet is adding tofu so I’m really thinking there’s a connection there. Now, for two weeks out of every month before my period my breast get sore and I hold water (edema). i’m cutting out the tofu to see if it’s the cause.

@@alessandralovecchio7970 yes I did . I also started taking vitamin e , natural form. That helped the final little bit I had left (sore nipples about 7-10 days before period) stop. But I’m hearing now that in our mid 40s , bc progesterone naturally is declining in all women before menapause , i could get pms solely due to that . Ugh! Doctors (😏 ) suggest supplementing with bio-Id progesterone when that happens. I just don’t know how good or not good that is for our bodies to get . I wonder if it’s possible to have no symptoms of lower progesterone in our mid to late 40s before menopause comes on 🤷🏻♀️

Soy has been part of Asian cuisine for centuries. Never heard of a problem there. Maybe it has something to do with what your ancestors ate that affect what you can or cannot eat. There is a large proportion of Asians who are lactose intolerant, a problem that is less common in non-Asian populations. That is probably because until quite recently (about 50 years ago), Asians did not consumed diary products.

It’s not adults that take phytoestrogens that concerns me. It’s the soy in baby formula that concerns us. 1) we know phytoestrogens (in soy) will reduce the size and function of genitals in growing mammals. Experimental data shows this. 2) we know phytoestrogens effect humans, menopausal women benefit form it. 3) we know that drinking VERY large amounts of soy milk in some men will cause physiological changes akin to estrogen. The idea that this will have no effect on growing male infant genitalia is absurd . Why is everyone ignoring this?

what about sodium, i once was assigned to a workplace a few yards from a vegetarian restaurant after a week of sampling veggie burgers tacos etc.. all delicious i might add, on the weekend i started feeling sick, and went to the er, only to find my bp was sky high, on drs advice dicontinued soy meat and all went back to normal. not once during this or other videos is sodium mentioned.
@nancyhey10123 жыл бұрын
It may have been that particular restaurant. They may have been adding a lot of salt to the food unnecessarily. They have been under the misconception that people found vegetarian food to be “bland”, and so thought they had to salt it up. Otherwise there is no logical reason why soy products should contain more sodium than meat products. Besides, most processed meats also have had a lot of salt added to them.
