"... one can eat THEMSELVES?" I think ONE should be paired with a singular such as HIMSELF or maybe HIM/HERSELF. This is a grammar mistake that a lot of people make so I'll let it be a lesson for all.

So!!! I watched this video a week before my periods and decided to remove dairy (I've been vegetarian for 9 years but a bit obsessed with dairy) and see how it'll affect my cycle. Seriously, it's hard to believe but I had no pain, no cramps, no temperature and no bloating! The less painful periods in 20 years! Girls, you should try it!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was diagnosed with Hyperthyroid 2016, was given medications. In 2018 after giving birth to my son I was diagnosed with Hypothyroid. My doctor could not understand how I had both high and low. I decided to go on a plant base diet. I stopped taking my medications and started my diet on December 1st 2019. On February 2020 my endocrinologist was very happy to tell me that my thyroid levels were normal. He stated “ Keep taking the medications they are working” Then I told the him, “I stopped the medication 2 months ago and started a plant base diet” The doctor looked at me and said “ oh no it’s not the diet, idk what it is but it’s not that, you can keep eating what you want. I didn’t listen to my doctor, I’m still on a plant base diet and I see him every 6months and he orders blood work and for over a year now my thyroid levels have been normal. Anyone who has been diagnosed with thyroid imbalance, trust Dr. Barnard go on a plant base diet.

I had a hormonal breast cancer and was not an avid dairy drinker/eater. I drank soy shakes twice a day and was very lean. I had preexisting uterine fibroids, worked 40hrs a week and travel every other weekend. When I traveled I would eat seafood and low fat diet. My diet at home/weekly is salads, chicken and rare beef but veges mostly and low carbs. And some low sugar dark chocolate!I clocked 6-9 miles of running weekly with two or three days of weight training. I was 43 when this happen. No family history. My personal diagnosis was stress and mentally abusive relationship. Stress causes a women’s body to use it’s progesterone and changes it to stress hormones like cortisol or adrenaline. With no or very little progesterone your estrogen becomes carcinogenic. This issue caused my tumors, fibroids and breast tumor to grow in very obvious estrogen receptor sites. I even notice the swelling and reduction of them during my cycles. I was being pressured to have chemo!!!! I ended up having a excision of breast tumor and partial hysterectomy. Then as back up but probably didn’t need it had breast low dose radiation. I dropped the soy shakes and only now eat pea protein shakes. I’ve changed nothing else. I drank milk heavily as a teen but now just a spit in the tea and yogurt/kefir 2 or so times a week. I alternate with egg omelettes w/veges. After the age of 25 I drank rarely. After the surgeries, To ease the early entry to menopause I applied biological hormones to protect my heart and bone density. I’m cancer free for 8 yes now. Im still very active and eat what I want in moderation. Food plays a role but only a woman knows that we have way too many jobs in a marriage and it is time for men to either realize the amount of work and stress we endure and honor stay at home moms or get real and take on 50% of the household/child rearing duties. Women stop catering to men and take care of yourself. This includes taking time to build a separate social life/support group. America needs to re-examine and redefine rolls w/o skewing our genders. All work is important and non-discriminatory in raising a family. Share the load people and get political to protect families and relationships. Don’t let economics and business dictate what is true and healthy. Thank you for sharing your lecture. I agree there is definitely some business to be examined and messages to be put out in the public to save Americans if not the world from trash.

I was diagnosed with endometriosis at the age of 29. Until then, I didn't know the name of my terrible pain. I watched Dr. Neal Barnard's video about vegan diet/less oils/no processed food/less sugar...after only one month of diet, my pain decreased so much, that in the second month of period, I had no pain at all. I was so happy I could not believe it was working. Now, after 2 years of veganism, I can honestly say, I will never go back to the old style of living and eating. I owe my healing to God who talked to me through Dr. Neal. I am so grateful for this video. Thank you so much. My heart goes to every woman who is suffering from endo, you should try this diet and convince yourself of the miracle. God bless you all! We are stronger together! 💖💖

@@kaldobie5994 I don’t doubt they followed protocol. And the medical staff did what they felt they needed to do to keep my daughter alive and healthy…for that I’m certainly grateful. Your statement that the appendix serves no useful function is pretty bold, though, as it cannot be proven. And there’s evidence to suggest otherwise. Just because the medical community hasn’t completely figured it out yet doesn’t mean it’s fact. Look at how much information about the human body has been gradually discovered over the years…and we’re clearly not done yet!

I had heavy bleeding that went on for months. I had huge fibroids and needed a hysterectomy. After doing some research I decided to change my diet to see if I could avoid surgery. They really aren't interested in changing the status quo. I can't tell you how much criticism I got for trying to make the environment healthier. I used to get PMS and was sensitive to menstrual and stress hormones. The symptoms of brain fog, depression and altered memory function would last 2 weeks. Imagine getting PMS symptoms for 2 weeks, and before they resolve, a stressful encounter happening - that's the whole month gone to the dogs. I got into a vegan diet and I so thank God for that. It changed my life for better. I recently got into a very big stressful situation last month. I got those symptoms so bad I had to rely on my daughter for cues if I had showered that day etc. I did a raw vegetable juice /drink with a meal of mostly raw plants, and my symptoms were relieved within 2 hours or so. I did that with all my meals that day,, and by the next day, the symptoms had completely resolved. What a Mighty God we serve

Since being on an IUD I have cramps EVERY SINGLE TIME (regardless of menstrual cycle) I eat fried chicken (1/month) or any amount of meat more than a slice of bacon. Serious cramps. I recognized the correlation and tracked it. My meat consumption is a significant factor in my felt inflammation. Being 85% plant based reducing to none is not difficult. It’s more annoying that people around me try to convince me “it’s in your head”. When I have cramps within 24 hours of eating meat it’s definitely real. This gives me validation. I knew it was the darn meat.

Yup it’s definitely the meat. Before I went vegan I would faint and vomit regularly on my period. Since going vegan that hasn’t happened once-in fact I don’t usually take ibuprofen on it anymore. Kidneys work as filters in the body... I believe this is known. Too much protein processing or filtering will do a massive number on the kidneys. Like several appliances we have at home, we need to clean out whatever filters it might have periodically. What doesn’t seem to have to come to light for many people yet is, the ovaries and the kidneys work together.. it’s like a backup system. Testicles in men are also have renal connection. So OF COURSE, going low on the proteins (and sugars) will definitely have a positive effect on inflammation and cysts connected to the female reproductive system generally. It even helps cure PCOS, which is a diabetic complication. For those ignorant people saying it’s all in your head, ironically their response proves it’s in their heads 😅 Hope this info helps someone.

I also had two or three days around ovulation during which I became irritable and anxious. Needless to say, it was ruining my life. I planned my life around my cycle, knowing that than half the month I’d struggle with concentration and even noise and light would trigger me. I went vegan 3 months ago, and I have NO PMS. It was effective immediately. My skin is no longer greasy. My hair has stopped falling out (another fun thing that I’d been struggling with) and my energy levels overall are so much better. I went plant based 5 years ago after watching "Forks Over Knives" and my life changed FOREVER, no more acne, no more IBS, no more headaches, and I lost weigh. My whole family is plant based now. If you want to go plant based make sure you don't eat any junk, a lot of my friends went vegan for a couple of weeks and were only eating junk vegan food, they end up gaining weight and feeling bad. Make sure you follow a healthy diet, lots of vegetables, fruits, grains, nuts (in moderation) and lots of water. Once you see the difference in your energy, weight and complexion you'll never go back. Thank you Dr. Barnard for everything you do to keep us informed! God bless you always!

@@glowglitter9066 in moderation. You may want to consider that nuts have a lot more in them once we scratch the surface. Like Selenium in Brazil nuts? Essential mineral. Like has already been said though, in moderation. Also by grains are you considering quinoa, bulgar wheat, pearl barley. Whole grains and some don't have gluten if that is an issue for you. Quinoa is also a source of complete protein. Quite complicated honestly.

From the age of 14 years old I have always had severely painful long and heavy monthly periods, vomiting, diarrhea and a fever - went onto the pill to manage it. I'm 42, went vegan 6 years - I could finally leave the pill and endured for the first time PAINLESS AND SHORT menstrual cycles. ..... Then a month ago went for my first Covid jab and BAM!! - - I'm 14 again and bending over a toilet or curling up on the bathroom floor! Nobody is talking about this side effect - women's health is being ignored.

those cycles may or may not have been anovulatory, thus probably came with no symptoms. i am not for or against the covid 19 vaccine, but it is highly unlikely that it had anything to do with your cycle.... :/ you should dig deeper and after so many years with 100% externally controlled hormones, there is a lot you can work on in replenishing what the pill deprived you from

I have been on a plant based diet for about 6 weeks. I do feel better so far and I am so surprised by all the plant based options I never knew existed. The more I explore, the less I miss the old "comforts" of animal based food. I am 45 years old and obese at 5'9" and 275 lbs. I have always been overweight. I've started to show possible thyroid issues, autoimmune markers, prediabetes, and a fatty liver. I am not active mostly due to the pain I have in most of the joints in my body. I have been suffering from severe depression for just over a year, despite being medicated for most of it. I will check in at my doctor's office in 6 months to see what changes have occurred for my body and mind and post the update here. Wish me luck.

The change has to occur in the homes, before the children enter school. I'm a retired, elementary school teacher, and I taught in a school with PK-3 through 6th grade. On the days that chicken nuggets were served, students had empty trays at the end of the lunch period; however, on the days that chicken was served, students threw away trays, which still contained the chicken, untouched. I ate in the cafeteria, when chicken was served, and it was tasty. But the children wouldn't even try it, no matter the age group. When I explained to fifth and sixth grade students, the differences between chicken nuggets, and chicken, they laughed and said, "Oh, well! At least they (chicken nuggets) taste good!" Furthermore, on the occasions that I tried to encourage the PreK-K students, to try the real chicken, they looked at it, with big eyes, and shook their heads. Some of the children, asked me, "What is it?" My apologies for the lengthy post, but on a side note, albeit an important one, when our district provided students with fresh, self-serve, salad bars, most of our students, loaded their trays, and ate all their salad choices. The government is training children to drink their milk, even offering strawberry and chocolate milks (!), but failing to teach them proper nourishment practices. And where are the public announcements for the general public, so that these children's parents are informed? It's a dire situation.

I brought all my vegetables etc. To make a huge pot of soup and the lunch aid said "oh no don't do that they will never eat that," and handed me a box of Lipton instant whatever you call it. I was shocked to hear kids would not eat healthy food. In high school I sent my kids to school with homemade soups, stews etc and they said the kids would smell it and ask if they could have some real food. Soo.. I think in the end kids want real food but all the sugar, fats, salt and artificial flavours in foods designed to addict them are doing just that.

Do you have to add the biological word? Physics says we are electrical energy fields because atoms are electrical energy fields. We all consist of 7 billion billion billion atoms. We are not biological at all. We are alkaline just like a battery. Our bodies regulate us between 7.35 pH and 7.45 pH. These numbers are very close to the middle between alkaline and acidic. Dr. Young has written a lot of books about how we must eat mostly alkaline foods. If we don't we go out of balance. Just like a battery. In the book Hands of Light written by the physicist Barbara Brennan are many pictures/diagrams of what we look like as electromagnetic, holographic, multidimensional and eternal beings. We can't die because we are constantly being created. That is evident by the quarks that are constantly bursting forth spinning billions of times a second as 3 points of light forming protons and neutrons. These words are in the book The Quantum World written by the physicist Kenneth Ford.

For many years many doctors have been saying these same words. There is Dr. Berg and Dr. Lustig to begin with. They are holistic saying that sugar is poison. Carbs turn into sugar very fast. That leaves us with veggies and fruits. All animal products are said to be acidic, too. Our bodies have to work real hard filtering out all of the acidic foods people eat.

Holy cow...listening to the story about the doctor. My mom had breast cancer, was treated traditionally and did very well for 5 years following surgery, chemo, and radiation. She learned that the cancer had spread to the lung and I convinced her to change her diet to a plant--based diet, which she did, after hearing from her oncologist that there was a lot of research that indicated that it could be very helpful. (Her oncologist was also plant-based.) About 6 months after her diet changes, her oncologist mused that her cancer was undetectable. She returned to her old (unhealthy diet), and the cancer came back with a vengeance. She passed away a few months later.

Absolutely love this lecture. I really appreciate Dr. Barnard and I know he is a very highly respected proponent of a Whole Food Plant Based diet. I just wish that in this lecture, he had mentioned that IF you introduce vegan junk food (like vegan Taco Bell) when you eliminate meat, eggs and dairy, it is important to remember that further dietary changes, (to eliminate vegan junk food and embrace a Whole Food Plant Based diet) will be necessary in order to achieve optimal health and healing. Just one more sentence about that, and this lecture would be perfect.

good comment: I take your point very well, but this very talk is the educational piece I'd missed when I went vegan a couple of years and went back because my health hadn't radically improved then: --> the missing piece was the added oils Yay!!! Back to veganism now and applying what Dr Barnard is telling us about the small particles of fat that most likely won't go away and will continue to keep our cells resisting insulin (especially in me an older person) who needed to really understand this. Mic the Vegan (KZbin) had told on his videos that oils were unhealthy, but I never heard the reason why. Dr. Barnard tells us why: that the use of magnetic resonance spectroscopy reveals the microscopic particles in our cells (pertinent to diabetes: muscle cells) blocking the entry of insulin ushering glucose into the muscle cells so they can be burned as fuel.

I totally agree. It’s the oil, salt & sugar in the processed vegan food. I got hooked on this food - the vegan sausages & burgers with oven fries but kidding myself it was still healthy as it was vegan plus I still had fresh fruit, salads & green smoothies. Oh & vegan dark chocolate, vegan red wine, gluten free, vegan breads & pastries & high protein vegan nut bars. The health issues came back plus some new ones & I gained over 30 lbs. I found any processed foods - vegan or not - are addictive & if I have them in the house I eventually eat them.

This is interesting. I have never had cramps or pain, but I have always struggled with PMDD and extreme stress/joint pain before my cycle. I went plant based 6 years ago and this helped for quite a while, but did not resolve my symptoms. I just recently started eating animal fats again and my hormonal imbalance is getting better. Clean, local, grass fed animal fats and an abundance of organic vegetables. That works for me. I think it is highly important to address bio-individuality in the sense that some people's hormonal cycles will be impacted by different foods. I am happy that this study happened and am grateful for everyone that it has helped.

Regarding milk food I would say that milk food from grass fed animals doesn't impact your health negatively. Intermittend fasting which is actually rather a reduction of your time window when you eat, doea a great job and combined with low carb it helps to overcome insuline resistance. However, hhere is no way to find out what works best for you but exploring.

@juliemitzel383
@juliemitzel383 3 жыл бұрын
@@marionmaierphilonatura hi :-). We shouldn't refer to you or anyone as deluded. That doesn't help. I can understand why it might seem that dairy from grass fed cows would be fine. Here is info that might help : first, milk from cows is a hormonal food, it's produced when a cow becomes pregnant and the cows hormones increase for gestation and lactation. Even grass fed cattle have hormones in the milk naturally and it does affect our health adversely. Second, the species we are most closely related to on earth are plant eaters. Our teeth are not shaped like the teeth of meat-eating predators. You might like to look up images of the teeth of animals like lions, tigers, etc. Our bodies are designed to eat plants from our teeth and saliva which breaks down starches, to our very long intestinal tract (animals that are true carnivores have a much shorter intestine to let meat pass quickly.) Our intestines are meant to allow our system time to extract nutrients from plant matter. (Also, we aren't equipped with claws that tear thru fur and flesh.) Third, your thought about killing plants is fair. For what it's worth, if you eat animals, that animal is fed a lot of plants before you eat the animal. Eating plants directly decreases the total plants consumed. For example, it takes several pounds of grain to produce one pound of meat. Additionally, plants do not have central nervous systems connected to a central brain and are unable to experience pain like creatures that do have nervous systems. Basically, eating plants directly conserves much more resources, reduces a lot of suffering and is super beneficial for your health. You are still the only one who decides what you are going to eat. And it sounds like plant based is not what you want for now. Or you could just try an occasional meatless meal once a week, a meatless day once a week. But at least when you have information, you are truly empowered as you make your choice. I hope this helps, and wish you well. 🙂

@@juliemitzel383 I dont think I can go vegan. I enjoy meat and dairy to much. However I have recently changed up my diet to eat much less processed food. More veg in the meals and healthier breakfasts. We shall see if I can move the level of comfort further later. There were two main meals this week with no meat or fish, three days with fish and plant only and two days with chicken and plant. But most days there are 6-9 fruit and veg portions and mixes of grains and pasta. Found a cereal I like shreadded wheat (still have milk in it) but getting blueberries, banana and walnuts and that at leasts starts my day much better than a cheese sandwich or sausage roll. Lunch is left overs of the main meal. Main meal is something with tomatoes, onions, garlic and peppers. Usually tuna, chicken or beans with it. Much better than burger, pizza ect. Can't say I will go near to vegetarian never mind full vegan but hopeful of improvements now the diet is more balanced and less rubbish. I salute anyone that can follow a diet that can be shown to work for them and keep it up long term. Will be looking to cut down or stop cheese as my next task.

I had such a great outcome that I continued doing this for the remainder of my menstrual cycles until menopause. I concluded that I needed more calcium and more magnesium. It's quite confusing from the perspective of the average person. One side says plant based, it's the way. Other side says carnivore, it's the way. I've had an average to bad diet most my early life, just eat whatever not worrying about health, but I went through a small phase of eating healthy where I focused on about 90% plant and about 10% meat. I'd eat plants throughout the day and at night I'd throw in a bit of meat. But I cut out all sugar and processed carbs like bread/flour. Very quickly I began feeling amazing. I was 30 but felt like I was a teenager, I didn't need coffee and I could work all day and evening without getting worn out, my mood stabilized, I went through about 2 months without ever having a bad mood which before was a regular occurrence, my anxiety basically disappeared, and my skin quickly became fresh/youthful. I really felt great, it's like your body and brain start humming when you feed them what they want. I remember towards the end of this healthy period I ate a burger from a fast food joint, and it wrecked me I felt totally off, just gross, anxious and grouchy, and I realized wow this is how I normally felt before. Like I didn't realize the whole time that I was feeling way shittier than I needed to and it was food that was doing it. But eventually I lost focus and went back to eating junk, though I've never forgotten that experience and constantly tell myself I'm going to make the shift permanently. Never tried carnivore. (Just to mention, my motivation to eat healthy during that time was for appearance reasons, I simply wanted to look healthy, and the other effects were a pleasant and eye opening surprise)
