I have been watching your videos for three days now. You are an excellent teacher. You explain everything very well. In upcoming lectures of my current EE course, I am going to sit in the back and watch your videos instead of listening to my professor who, unfortunately, jumbles his thoughts a bit too much.

I appreciate that this guy uses real world example and numbers as well as letters and signs. For some reason it just seems to click more when there are numbers with the problem. The Electrical engineering dude from Khan Academy could learn a thing or two from this guy

I thought of doing the samething in exponential form, what do you think Sir?

It becomes a matter of preference. Either method is fine.

would it make a difference if one of the Z's was a resistor, because i have the exact same problem but simply with a 50Ω resistor, a 50mH inductor and a 50μF capacitor, i found the total impedence to equal -2.52j+50. which is wrong. i have been given a input voltage of 200sin(50t) thank you

R = 500 ohms with a phase angle of 0, XL = 2.5 ohms with a phase angle of + 90 XC = 400 ohms with a phase angle of - 90 (assuming that w = 50 rad/sec)

thank you for the quick reply, firstly is it not 50Ω(0)?, i got every thing else the same but how to add them in parallel? i.e. 1/Z=1/Z1+1/Z2.... so i got 1/50 + 1/J2.5 + 1/-J400 = 0.02-0.4J+0.0025j Thus 1/Z = 0.2-0.3975j thus 1/Z=0.44(-63.29) thus Z=1/(0.44(-63.29)) Z=2.27(63.29) Which is incorrect the correct Answer Z=2.5(87.) Which was found by stating that the Voltage in parallel is that same thus Vrms = 200/(2^.5) = 141.42 Then the total current is i = 141.42/50 + 141.42/J2.5 + 141.42/-J400 i = 2.83 - J 56.57 + J 0.35 = 2.83 - 56.21 J i = 56.28(-87) Z = V/i = 141.42 (0) / 56.28 (-87) = 2.5 (87) I hope this has clearly shown my working and as to why i am confused. To clarify i can not get the same answer for Z using the 1/Z = 1/Z1 + 1/Z2 + 1/Z3 ... formula

When using the method shown in the video and using the numbers you presented z = 2.51ohms / 87.1 degrees

In a four branch parallel circuit, 10mA of current flows in each branch . If one of the branch is opens, the current in each of the other branches.. ? A) decrease B) increase C) remaining unaffected D) doubles Please say the answer sir
@MichelvanBiezen4 жыл бұрын
The answer is "C" the current in each branch remains unaffected.

why did my teacher give Zt = [sqrt((1/R)^2 + ((1/XL)-(1/Xc))^2]^-1, which gives me the incorrect answer?1?!
