It will be easier to understand if the order of the terms in the integral is: v(dot)x_hat dydz. This is because x_hat is the perpendicular vector to the surface dydz

It will be very useful if you draw or visulize the vector field. Some times the vector field equation is very complex. BTW Loves your work and personality.
