I just wanted to tell you that your explanations were extremely helpful! By the way, I'm a senior in a high school in Germany and even though English is not my first language I did understand this whole topic way better than what I heard in class. So thank you for this lecture and I really appreciate your way of teaching.

so can we find out n in the electrons configuration with Pauling`s diagram as n is the energy level for the electron when we deal with other atoms with more the one electron?
@MichelvanBiezen

Through a combination of theoretical models and measurements during experiments, we can derive values that represent the quantum numbers and energy levels of the electrons in simple atoms, but it becomes increasingly difficult with more electrons in more complicated atoms.

Prof, I'm using the equation of v = fλ to find the λ and get the same value..can I use that equation?

@@MichelvanBiezen I am seeing different equations for velocity of the electron, derived from the force equation and from the angular momentum equation. But I cant figure out where this one is from: v = v1/n. Any idea?
@MichelvanBiezen
@MichelvanBiezen 3 жыл бұрын
v(n) = v1/n is the velocity at the various energy levels of the Bohr atom in terms of the velocity of the electron in the first energy level.

Mr. Professor moving electric charge produces magnetic field. Does moving electron in hydrogen atom cause that it acts like a magnet?
@MichelvanBiezen
@MichelvanBiezen Жыл бұрын
A hydrogen atom would act like a magnet if the electron orbited in a single orbit like a planet around the Sun. But the shape of the orbit of an electron in a hydrogen atom is a sphere and therefore all these varying directions cancel out the magnetic field.

@@MichelvanBiezen thank You. So how permanent magnet produces magnetic field?
@MichelvanBiezen
@MichelvanBiezen Жыл бұрын
Permanent magnets are "frozen" in that state. When iron is melted and then subsequently solidified while in the presence of a magnetic field, it will become a magnet itself, since all the atoms will be oriented in a similar direction such that the magnetic field of each atom adds to the magnetic field of the others.

@@MichelvanBiezen but the magnetic filed comes from protons or electrons? Or it depends on electrons shell configuration? since not every metal is magnetic. This was always a mistery. Thank You Mr. Professor.

Any charged object that moves (protons or electrons) will produce a magnetic field.

Hi, Thank you for the videos.Is it possible to use the formula C=λf ?
@MichelvanBiezen
@MichelvanBiezen 8 жыл бұрын
+leejy2 That is correct for photons (c = speed of light), but not for electrons since they cannot move at the speed of light. Thus you must use v = lambda x frequency

Hello sir. Will you please explain why "λ=2πr" ?
@MichelvanBiezen
@MichelvanBiezen 8 жыл бұрын
The path length of an electron in an orbit around the nucleus of an atom can only be equal to an integer number of wavelengths, because small particles (like electrons) behave like waves and will experience destructive interference. i.e. they cannot exist in a orbit otherwise. The inner most orbit the integer is = 1.

Thank u sir. But this equation tells us that "Wavelength = Circumference of the orbit" Does this equation come from other equations? Or is this a basic equation?
