Me. I have had no help from my teacher who signed me up to this without asking me, I'm the only one in my class doing it so you are all the help I've had so thanks!

Please make a video solving the NSEP (National Standard Examination in Physics) paper of India. Its got a lot of good problems.

For the last question, you said tan(x)= h/L, when shouldn’t it be tan (x)=L/h because tan=o/a not a/o?
@zhelyo_physics10 ай бұрын
correct! We didn't spot this. I answered this in a previous comment, let me copy it below: Excellent spot!! We should have considered 90 - theta for the geometric approach as it's the angle between the diagonal line and the horizontal line above if that makes sense (if it doesn't I'll upload a diagram somehow). I actually did this alternatively using forces: mg=Fcosθ (1) ma=Fsinθ (2) From (1) F=mg/cosθ Plug the above into (2) ma=mgsinθ/cosθ a=g tan θ tanθ=a/g (3) Now consider a triangle between the two parts of the U tube, where θ is the angle to the horizontal. tanθ=h/L From (3) a/g=h/L Hope this helps!!

So the Senior Challenge is just one paper ?
@zhelyo_physics10 ай бұрын
yep! : ) It gives a nice introduction to olympiad problems before round 1 the year after.

Super video , just one thing, at 22:55 isnt tan∅ opposite/ adjacent so it should be l/h? Or maybe im just visualisng it wrong. But great video from you two legends 👍

How would you be able to do questions 1?
@zhelyo_physics10 ай бұрын
interesting quesiton, so it's a number I actually remember but only because I teach it all the time. If you didn't I think it's best to estimate the density of the Earth (rock is around 5500 kg/m^3) and use denstiy = mass/volume where v=volume of a sphere, you are given the radius of the earth so you should be able to get a good answer. Any other approaches I am missing?

I love JEE Problems! I have a playlist of problems here kzbin.info/aero/PLSygKZqfTjPAs0IBTO4cXbTdwtQ1fpiX8 . I will see if I can do one on an entire paper which would be very very tricky.

It's the Senior Physics Challenge for Year 12 but the problems are great fun! For round 2 I recommend doing also the harder IPhO problems from this playlist: kzbin.info/www/bejne/i2nFqWprrMhlkNEsi=7o5egxDNXaY8DEvb
