Firstly, +I grps- all methyl groups and those groups with a negative charge Then , -I effect - all functional groups and all groups with a positive charge. +M effect- groups which have lone pairs (also incld functional groups with lone pairs) , all methyl grps (due to hyperconjugation), groups with a negative charge -M groups- groups with positive charge, functional groups with no lone pair(eg NO2) Remember - halogens show +m effect and -I effect but their -i effect is more dominating while in other functional groups +M is more dominating if they show +M and -I ( -OCH3)

31:30 onwards... Inductive effect depends on distance...and at meta position only inductive effect is functional...so in questions of arranging in order of acidic strength in case of effect of substituents on phenol, inductive effect must be given priority over mesomeric effect at meta position.

For +I your concept is ri8 ....but at para CH3 shows hyperconjugation too which is electron donating effect and due to which it is less acidic at para as compare to meta......

I also have the same doubt....but i think Agar overall dekhe to acidic character is affected by ease of donation of h+.....and not stability of the product formed...and i think that donation of h+ is severely hindered by attraction from lone pair of oxygen

Yarr GOC dekh kar aao ya revise krke aao fir bolna (Aur haan, +I & -I para par kam hona chahiye kyoki vo jyada door hai) Anyone.. please correct me if I am wrong!!
