Do gniazd czarnych bocianów nie można się zbliżać. Próba wejścia do gniazda może się skończyć opuszczeniem gniazda przez dorosłe osobniki i trzeba będzie zabrać całą czwórkę piskląt. To nie białe bociany.

It looked as if the parent was pestering each of the chicks to get a good look at them. As soon as that first storklet fell over backwards it was obvious it was immature and signified the beginning of the end for it..

that was very sad to watch 😢 it looked like the parent was preening the sick baby. not taking the actions the parents usually takes to eliminate a chick. he was so weak, he just rolled to the edge of the nest on his own. even then, the parent wasn’t shaking him by the head or neck. she/he continued to gently preen. finally, she/he helped end the suffering of the 2 sick chicks.

What is really sad is that it was watched live by PEOPLE for quite a long time... Then there was some intervention but a bit too late. One baby was saved, at least that baby had a second chance and finally grew up. But I know, the answer is that nature knows its way...

As usual I checked the nest cam very first thing today morning, and found two little ones dispersed. I couldn’t believe there was an elimination for two at the same time happened on such lovely nest. So sad, can’t accept! Anyway, thank you for posting and letting us know the real.

@@vghrn They did I was told by another channel that they came to take the two weakest and one will be cared for while the other the one you see trying to escape died of its wounds.

@Danielle Bolstad. Thanks for the update. I didn’t visit the nest since the tragedy and today I was back to check. I was so surprised and confused to see 3 storklets in the nest, until I read your comment. Glad they saved the one and returned it back.

I think that maybe the parents are not easy keep hunting the small prey to fulfill all chicks, so they could only eliminte the little one, that's poor.
