We are talking about the Piaggio Zip SP (That stands for Sport Production, and it has been often used for races). Just to be sure that non Italians and non scooter people understand what we are talking about: The brand new scooter with no modifications (just "unblocked" because in Italy every brand new scooter has to have the top speed limited to 45 km/h) is capable of 85 km/h if the rider has his back erected, and is capable to go to near 100 km/h if the rider is crouched and using slipstream. But that is not all since the scooter is really well balanced and capable of very good accelerations and brakes (the original front brake disc is 200mm wide). All of this with enough space for a full helmet under the seat. The models tuned by Malossi have professional races specs (that includes some limitations like the size of the carburetor limited to 19 and other stuff that i don't know or don't know hot to translate in English). Everything is revisited, the race engine is 70 cc instead of 50, the compression ratio goes up to 15,5:1 and it's capable of 22cv at the wheel, that are enough to push the 68 kg to over 150 km/h. Removing the race limitations (for exmaple using a bigger carburetor) the same engine can gain something aroun 5/6 more cv. I've seen some of that things in my life, and I can say that's all but a toy. It's a proper racing machine. A very light and agile one.

it's probably more about the tiny wheels, which give him massive advantages in the turns and both braking and accelerating (until the bigger bikes can actually using their power advantage)...also CVT and centrifugal clutch, so he can concentrate purely on riding like a madman :D
@chehystpewpur47542 жыл бұрын
@@AKAtheA the tiny wheels provide less grip actually. less braking but they do make the acceleration better as less power is needed to spin the wheel. most scooters can also use tires as wide or wider than most bikes so you still can get some very good cornering. if you use a 2 stroke motor you can also get stupid power for little investment and tune cvt to engage at the powerband and just fly. i have a big wheel 50cc frame with 12" rims and widest tires i can run. lowest final drive i can run and can still barely keep the front end on the ground on launches. if i supercharge it to pull the gears ill be back at wheelie mode but 0-60 times will be under 4 seconds. current 120+ mph gears and 18hp and my 0-60 is 5 seconds if i really lay into it. its almost as quick as my v8 swapped s10 blazer. but i feel like the scooter should be quicker. so if anyone beats my blazer i can really put the hurt on them with a single cylinder scooter.
