My mother was a child prodigy concert pianist. Like this boy, she was playing classical pieces at the age of two. She had a full ride at Juliard at the age of 16. She had perfect pitch and could play anything by ear. This really got me in my feels because it brings back such sweet memories

I had a Filipino friend like this growing up. He practiced at least 4 hours a day and performed in concert halls while attending school. As we got older, our group of friends wanted to do more outdoor activities like sports and riding our bikes around the neighborhood. His parents never let him join us because they didn't want him to injure his hands. Not even non-contact sports like flag football. He eventually became just another face in the hallway that you nod to as you pass by. I lost touch entirely after high school. He got good grades too, so I'm sure he's successful, but I wouldn't trade my childhood for his. I hope this little prodigy is able to have a normal childhood with lots of friends.

I doubt a three year old could get to this point without hours of weekly, if not daily, practicing. The teacher really shouldn't have accepted a pupil so young, as if he were three or four years older he'd likely progress to the same point much faster without wasting a developmentally important time.

Are you kidding me? This little boy will be the family's meal ticket. The family will be given better housing, better food etc. If something happens to him and he can't play anymore the family will be just like all the other unfortunate families in Communist China. If someone can add to the richness of the country they will be treated better. But if not then there's no use for them.
@MishaSkripach9 ай бұрын
@@ComelordJesus777 Absolute nonsense. First of all, the parents taught the boy good speech and good behaviour, this already means they are well educated and professional themselves. Secondly, they found for the son one of the best teachers, do you know what the hourly rates are for those? Then, if the boy starts touring, his mother has to drop her job to be with him, and at best they will get a sponsor to cover the fees, room hire with good grand pianos, travel expenses, etc. This boy is talented and clever, so, if he cannot play any more, he will be able to go into theory of music, change instrument, etc, at the end of the day he, with his hardworking attitude and high intelligence, will get brilliant education in another field. It is so funny how jalousy makes people make things up and create negative fantasies just to try to never notice where they and their kids stand compared to those gifted young people...

I agree with the sentiment, but I don't think this child is being used like that. He is still a beginner. It does look very strange to see a first year piano student playing with an orchestra. I wonder if this is some kind of special event.

@@ChiefHerzensCoach I don't want to be rude, for someone that young he plays extraordinarily well, but there was nothing especially musical about his performance. He played a simple repeating pattern, with no variation in tempo, and very slight variation in dynamics. The piece sounds like it is being rehearsed with a metronome, it doesn't have any fluidity. That said, I could never do something like this when I was 3. Most people couldn't. I'm not hating on the kid, he's clearly very talented. But he is also clearly nowhere near the level where most pianists play with an orchestra, and that's normal. It takes more than talent to play with an orchestra, which, no matter how gifted he is, there is simply not enough time to learn when he is only 3. This is a performance that sounds about what I would expect from a 1-2 year piano student, which is remarkable for someone aged only 3. But that's it. We don't need to exaggerate this.

The fact that a 3 year old can play piano better than me honestly crushes my spirit ... but at the same time it also gives me motivation to improve. I hope this kid continues doing what he loves doing, and I also hope that he keeps playing the piano as long as he likes it. I wish the best for him and I hope he isn't being forced to play against his will.

It's crazy that there are people here who are positively touched by this, who celebrate it. It is absolutely disgusting how a small child was drilled and probably tortured in order to force behavior that was completely untypical for his age and unnecessary. The parents and everyone who takes part in it belongs in jail. CHILD WELFARE ENDANGER

When you love the piano, as I did as a child, practice is not work, or practice, it's love. Your piano becomes your best friend. You express your emotions through it's keys. You go to the piano to celebrate, to think things through. I'm 73 and my piano is still an integral part of my life. I never wanted to be a concert pianist I was happy to just play for myself. My children have fond memories of sitting under my piano whilst I "practiced".

@@no-oneinparticular7264Why are you assuming that this kid was forced to practice or study music? I have worked with child prodigies before, and they are entirely self-motivated - when a kid plays with this much feeling & maturity, it comes from inside, not from anything imposed on them. Kids who are forced to practice play in a much drier way, they tend to play more mechanically.
