That song at the end was a banger. Especially the hook "just play some triplets".

Bro, I just found you and it's 2020, man I wish you kept up those instructional Keyboard videos every Tuesday til now, it would've been a goldmine of practical theory which just works and helps you understand it all and you can play around with it from the get-go... will keep on practising your old stuff while I wait for some more new videos

Hey Joshua, thanks so much for your kind words! Yeah, I got really serious about making KZbin videos for a couple of months in early 2016 and then completely ran out of steam. I liked the idea of going over the same simple chord progression in a bunch of different styles, showing what I would do in a band situation as each of these styles came up. Once I ran out of styles, I kinda ran out of ideas, since I hadn't really planned for anything past that initial idea. Also, I had around 1,000 subscribers at that point, and got a little frustrated with the amount of work that went into making those videos compared to the relatively small number of people they were reaching. I was also pretty busy actually playing out with bands and didn't have a good schedule in place for coming up with video ideas, shooting and editing. In the years since then, even though I've barely uploaded anything, people keep subscribing, and I continue getting views and overwhelmingly positive comments about my videos being helpful to a lot of people. People pretty regularly ask about more content as well. Recently, particularly with gigs slowing waaay down this year, I've definitely been considering the idea of making content on a regular basis again. I feel that I need a new concept; something where one subject naturally leads into the next so I don't rapidly run out of new ideas again. It's definitely a possibility. I just don't have a clear picture of what it would look like yet.

@@hartiganmusic If you arew willing to take ideas from viewers, in this video you talked about mayor chords, what about minor? that´s something... also, you could cover more comping in differnt styles, like latin "cumbia", more licks... and also songs so we could see how you aproach more complex progressions... anyway thankyou for your work

Great! Do you think you can use a looper to generate a blues song without sounding boring? I mean 12 bars are a LOT of time to fill - and if you fill it too much your loops will be overcrowded. I hope you understand what I mean...

Tip : Don't play the root in the left - unless its on its own with the minor 7th. Good channel man - Australia.

Great video! You deserve more subs. Just a question: What keyboard would you recommend for someone wanting to start live looping (like less then $1000)? Thanks in advance for reply.

Thanks for watching! I'm a big fan of Yamaha's keyboards. They have a "lite" version of the MOTIF that I play called the MO8, which does most of the same things. I'm quite sure you can get those for considerably less than $1000. If you're not concerned with weighted action and full length, there are smaller models that are even more affordable.

Defiantly have a look at the Roland VR-09. It's got piano, rhodes, organ, a real synth section and drums. Can do splits and layers, and you've got a looping function built into the keyboard that's well implemented. Check out musictrackjp's demo(s) of it.
