why is it important to mention number of flats ? #curious

lets u know the key signature ur in. look at the Ab major scale, you'll notice there are 4 flats in the scale. Bb, Db, Eb, Ab (so the 2, 4, 5, and 1) are flatted. All this lets you know is that you are in the key of Ab. Do the same for all other keys and it will let you know the number of flats you have.
