Hey Bro. Warren, this tutorial is helping me a lot to reach my goal to play Gospel and Jazz better. I mentioned to you before how much I want to be able to play Jazz piano better. Understanding these Scales helps me to the possibilities to create my own style and see my voicing chords options. As you"ve said in some of your prior videos if you learn the fundamentals you're not limited.

HIya Warren, Love your work. I know it was just an oversight, but at about 10 minutes in this lesson, you called the A minor pentatonic the 1-b3-4-5-and 6. But the 6 should read b7, as it is the flat 7 of A Major, just as the b3 is of A Major. This lesson is valuable for us to learn to improvise over gospel chords and really dive into the gospel sound. Thanks.

Speed is something you gradually work, practice your scales to a metronome and each week you increase that speed in small increments. This is how you work on speed.

@@PianoLessonwithWarren What are the chords derived from the blue scale?
@PianoLessonwithWarren3 жыл бұрын
@@hortencepauni9704 we don’t think of the blues s cake that way. The blues scale is used primarily for improvisation. We don’t “play” in the blues key as we wound the minor key or the major key.

Beedee Kenny unfortunately I cannot speak to another video and that they teach, you’d need to ask them that.

@@PianoLessonwithWarren I can now understand the idea of the video and yours... It goes thus: The video explained using Aminor scales. The area where I got confused was that: 1 b3 4 5 b7 ( of Major scales ) 1 3 4 5 7 ( of natural Minor scales ) Conclusion: The other video showing pentatonic scales from natural minor scales was right.. Your video showing same pentatonic scales from Major scales was as well right... Thanks.....

Hello please I want to understand this, if someone says he’s playing in the ‘key’ of Fminor what key is that cos I know there are 12keys from C to B and their respective signatures and u can only make minors out of each them when they turn into chords. So why do we say the key of Fminor?
@PianoLessonwithWarren2 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately this question is rather complex to explain in a comment. You need to look up videos exposing tonality in music to understand the difference between major keys and minor keys
@balthasarte56492 жыл бұрын
What about adding a b7 to the minor blues scale? Is is still the minor blues scale?
@PianoLessonwithWarren2 жыл бұрын
Not sure I understand. The minor blues and major blues is basically the same scale, it’s just the root note change.
@balthasarte56492 жыл бұрын
@@PianoLessonwithWarren Oh, this is what I mean: 1 b3 4 b4 5 7 b7 8 . I've seen the minor blues scale described as that in guitar manuals, with two blue notes, one between the 4 and 5 and the other between the 7 and 8. Could this still be called a blues scale in your experience, or is it some invention that falls outside the genre?
@PianoLessonwithWarren2 жыл бұрын
@@balthasarte5649 that some sort of hybrid blues scale which I’m not familiar. The traditional blues is 1 b3 4 #4 5 b7 8. With that said, when playing blues we use all 12 tones of the piano as we’re often introducing other scales based on the chord structure - more advanced form of blues playing. So I can see why the guitar manual may have listed that hybrid.
@balthasarte56492 жыл бұрын
@@PianoLessonwithWarren Thanks man. Actually, I've made a mistake with the notation. I meant to say 1 b3 4 #4 5 b7 7 8.
