Thanks Chuck. As an acoustic and digital pianist for decades (longtime on a Kawai KG2C acoustic, Yamaha P80 then Kawai ES8, with an SV-1 and S90ES along the way) the single most defining test for me every time I encounter a new digital piano is the single note decay. Most piano music isn't about holding a note until it fully decays, but for total expression, if the decay is too fast or loopy, it's a no go for me (no idea how this Casio performs in that regard). Just dropping this comment here as you do great reviews and thought I would pass along a "test" I always appreciate hearing - full decay to silence. Thank you for your informative reviews and positive spirit.

What a vid! A stroll down memory lane-:) Starts at about 5:00 with my favorite "Forgotten" and I agree the Homberg sound is beautiful! A fond memory was "King of The Road" which I saw coming almost immediately when you started. I was a teenager (little Italy Bronx NY) sitting in the most famous Pizzeria in NYC when that song came on. I fell in love with that song immediately. So much so that I even remember what I was eating when I first heard it!( I actually have a picture with Dion standing in front of it way back then) and I hung out with his whole family. To make a long story short I was with his cousin when the news of the plane crash that killed Holly, Bopper and Valens came over 55 AM radio and she said "Oh my God, Dion is on that plane", True story, he didn't have the $37 to get on the plane(you can see him talk about it on KZbin), but he doesn't tell you the reason he didn't have the $37 ( But I know) . She ran home but Dion already called his mom and dad to tell them he was safe (but freezing in Iowa). I recognize 30:00 but don't remember the name of that tune, following sounded like Mr. Tambourine man? Of course the Wagner tune from Lohengrin which we all know as "Here Comes The Bride" ( a favorite of divorce lawyers)-:) Procol Harum intro to WSOP. I think they had a Farfisa or Hammond organ for that one. Actually the intro done in Sarah Brightman's version is awesome but that's where it ends with her version. No doubt that A.L. Weber had something to do with that intro. So much more in that vid I could mention BUT I don't want to take up the whole page ( and I'm probably boring people to death) 🙂 This is by far your best Vid although the one with all the variations of "Forgotten" is very close. 2 paws up! Thanks so much Chuck! Stay well my friend!

Thanks for the awesome stories CJ! The song at 30:00 is "Classical Gas", an instrumental that was very popular at the time (harder for instrumentals to make it on the charts, but this one did). Occasionally a great instrumental comes out every now and then that just excels (Frankenstein by Edgar Winter would be an example). Actually met Edgar on a plane flight once, surprised to see he was sitting in coach.

Great review Chuck, I hope all is well. Like you elegantly stated, it is hard to comprehend a "high end" Casio. But it looks and sounds great! And with all of the bells and whistles maybe it play itself :) Thanks again.

Well said! I've used the term "plays itself" in the past to describe playing a piano where you're not finding yourself 'fighting with the keys' to get the results you want. I find I'm not 'fighting the keys' on this board, so I'm impressed! Stay well Tim!

Thanks for an A+ review Chuck as always. Which keyboard did you get for gigs at the end? the Casio 6000, the Numa X /GT 88 or something else entirely? The keyboard sounds not too shabby! I wonder how reliable is the touch interface though as a heavy duty keyboard.. I'd wager real buttons/switches would be be nicer to navigate and also last for many years..

I like all three patches. It would be a very refreshing change to have that Bechstein patch. It's so unlike all the patches offered elsewhere. Casio has performed a hat-trick on this piano. Yamaha and Kawai must be feeling the heat. This is still not a fully fledged stage piano. I wonder whether Casio will build one of them? Thanks for another great video Chuck.

Love the review! I'm curious to know if it's easy to play a glissando on these keys? I was really leaning towards the PXS1100 or 3100, but after trying them instore I wasn't entirely sold - playing a glissando was clunky, hard, and loud. I would absolutlely love to save up and get one of these in Harmonious Mustard, but not being able to easily glide around on the keys would be a dealbreaker for me.

They cannot be compared, as they are in a different price class. The action of the Kawai is plastic and the action of the Casio is wooden (much more realistic IMO).
@jgmedium

@@amitev They can with the understanding that they are in a different class just like other past comparisons. There are a few similarities between the two. A comparison can be made at least between the es120 and the 5000, which happens to be the bare minimum.

That was a comprehensive video! How is the wooden action of Casio in comparison to the wooden action of Fatar? Both px-s6000 and Numa X GT are in my class range, but the features of Numa X are superior in my opinion.
@PianoManChuck
@PianoManChuck Жыл бұрын
They're close, but Casio's key action is a hybrid (wood + plastic) and the shortest pivot point to date, which can amazingly compete with wood actions such as the Numa X GT. The designs / target market of each are different... the Casio is more for the home market + gigging, whereas the Numa is more for the gigging performer.... so it depends on what your target goal is. Regardless, I urge you to try both out at your local retailer.

You think this competes with a CLP 735? I like that it does a lot more than just play good piano. But I’m mostly interested in simple piano, it’s just sometimes I like to be creative with other things. Does the px7000 come close to piano quality to a clavinova?
@PianoManChuck
@PianoManChuck Жыл бұрын
The one thing about Yamaha is that they ONLY use Yamaha piano samples in their offerings (and Bosendorfer since they also own that brand). Other brands like Casio have no such restrictions, so they're offering the Steinway D and C.Bechstein D282, both of which are considered some of the best in the world. And they've done it in such a way that the quality of their sound reproduction is something you'd expect from VST quality.

Nice review. I want to record my playing for personal critique and improvement. Can the S7000 record and playback a 10 minute, intermediate level, unlayered song, in its entirety? If so, when I want to record a second song will I need to backup (copy to flash drive) the first song to prevent it from being overwritten?

I don't use the recorder function so I couldn't answer that off the top of my head. But the user manual would have all that info at support.casio.com/en/manual/manualfile.php?cid=008021007

Does it have better action than the PX-560? And I hope it has much better pianos than the PX-560. I was disappointed in the short sustain on the 560 pianos. For the price you quote, this new one better be way better (I got my PX-560M for just over $1k).

Can you please play some of the electric pianos? Those are my specialty and once again, the PX-560 did not satisfy me. If you had to choose between a Dexibell product and this S7000, which do you feel has the most realistic EP sounds? I'm especially picky about my Wurlitzer sounds, then my Fender Rhodes pianos (including Dyno-My-Piano, a killer modification done by a shop in San Francisco, CA). Thanks!

You metion the prices as if they're something rare. There are tons of other equally or even much higher costing dicital pianos, up to 2-3 the same price, from Casio, Roland,Yamaha, and others. They're expensive compared to entry level digital pianos, from Yamaha CVP-809 at $14,000. CSP 295 is $9000, Kawai CA901 is $6.5K, Dexibell VIVO S10 is $5000, Kawai MP11SE is $4200, Kurwzeil Forte 7 is $4000, and so on

Very good review. I have a question. How’s the action response of this piano compared to the Kawai MP11SE & VPC1. I am really impressed with this 2 action. This Casio sounds amazing specially the Hamburg piano sample but only question is the action and the built quality. MP11SE & VPC1 is built like a tank and already successful in the market. Actually I am waiting for the MP11SE but there’s no news after waiting so long. This and Numa is good substitute for me & Its actually a very over priced. Let me know your thoughts. Thank you 🙏
@PianoManChuck
@PianoManChuck Жыл бұрын
When you say you're "waiting for the MP11SE but there's no news..." - not sure what you're saying as the MP11SE has been available for years! As for the action of anything compared to anything else, opinions are worthless - trying them out in person is the ONLY way to get a reliable answer to that question, even if it means having to go out of your way to find one to try.

I know what they are talking about. The kawai Mp11se has been out of stock online for months, even on the kawai website. Some sites will post a delivery date but it will come and go with no keyboard. The Mp7se looks like availability may be drying up as well but still on some sites. So whats going on at the kawai factory? Supply chain? Transition to new mp line? Would love to see a comparison between Casio 6000 and studio logic numa X GT. Thanks Chuck.

I plan on getting the px-s7000 but I heard previous models had weighting issues with the black and white keys. Is it still the case for this piano that the black keys are much lighter than the white ones? And is the short pivot point a major problem?
@PianoManChuck
@PianoManChuck Жыл бұрын
The key action on these new models are completely redesigned - nothing like the older models. The short pivot point won't be a problem for anyone except professional classical pianists - they will be able to tell the difference in pivot points. For the rest of the 97% of pianists it shouldn't be a problem.
