Did piano lessons for three years and none of my teachers could explain to me why I was having trouble “tucking my thumb.” I eventually gave up playing the piano for about two years and now I’m finally coming back to it. Looked up a video on what thumb-stretching techniques I could try to make this easier and I stumbled across your video. Don't think they are opposing views. If you tuck your thumb under in order to prepare it for its next note while moving your arm at the same time then you're accomplishing exactly the same thing. Arm movement is essential here. But thumb under is also essential.

Mr. Pee Annow, I'm a beginner to piano. Just bought a semi-high end Yamaha electric grand. And ......I've been researching technique for over a month (on KZbin). You're the only one that suggested this natural technique. Look, music origins and theory are so easy compared to fingering Maj7th's or Maj9th's (cords) while rapidly migrating up and down duh "board". I have no doubt that you will help to usher in a new generation of excellent players. So, thank you for your intellectual download for all of us to master. WOW after watching some of the videos on your channel, I start to understand piano as a beginner. Piano is "designed" FOR our body and the techniques are the results of this design, not the other way around. In this sense except certain warm up exercise, I only need to train to use my body in certain way, not to strengthen it. Good practices should feel "natural" if I'm doing it in the correct way. I began to revisit the stuff I've learnt and I do agree that you're right. Really good guidance.

I have just been trying to learn the basics of technique recently and this is super mega helpful. Thinking of it as a stick rather than a tuck is exactly right. I was thinking about moving my thumb before. Now I just have to stick that last one in the group anf all my other fingers just flow to the right or the left. And before i had thought that my arm was supposed to be perpendicular with the keys whenever possible. But I find it much easier and it feels healthier for my wrist to do this now with your explanation. It's more fun to play when the weight of your whole arm is in it, like one of those movie pianists who's wading back and forth and rises and dips along with her fingers

I have been working hard on learning the scales in all the keys. And after a few days and several hours of practice, I started getting pain in my fingers from doing the crossovers. Sir i am a beginner and learning since last three months without any tutor....i am learning piano with ur free tutorials for the last two weeks…..with the help of your free youtube lessons i have speed up my five fingering pattern...I can play C major scale on two and more octaves with high speed and i am practicing other Major scales too. Initially I learned basic three notes chords and their inversions too and I understood use of inversions also. I played “twinkle twinkle little star”, some Indian movie songs phrases with my both hands. But after some time I realized I was playing like kids…..My hands were not able to play independently. That why I started from the very beginning with five fingering pattern and scales. Sir plz let me know after practicing scales should I practice chromatic scales, Jazz, blues scales, arpeggios in order to play pieces of music in future? or I can start play music now?? I am bit confused about what should be the steps of learning piano so that the milestone of playing a good music can be achieved. Please tell me step by step process of learning piano…..your lessons are fabulous and I am quite confident to become a good pianist in future but I need right direction. please help me out.
