Thank you very much for your detailed explanation about watches. I had previously used IDEs where "watch" meant "update the view of a variable at some rate" - not "update on triggered breakpoint only". Prior to that, I tried reading the documentation for "data visualiser" to debug a PIC16F15244 "nano" board. I eventually gave up trying to look at the gpio pins after it turned out that "view all pins" actually means "only 2 pins" for the nano. Then I switched to watch points on variables mimicing the gpio states and spent an hour or two trying to find out why the values were both wrong and unchanging - Then finally I found this excellent video telling me that I am wasting my time. I eventually switched to an oscilloscope to confirm the functioning of the pins. Well, now I know!😀

Yeah... evaluation kits are good when starting off but become annoying later on. I considered making a video about the data visualizer but decided it's not worth it, didn't seem that good... At the end of the day, there's nothing like making your own circuit and testing things out with LEDs, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers etc.
