Picard Season Three has been brilliant with the returning TNG cast. Even if this is Picard’s final season, a new show following Worf or Riker would be awesome :)

Yeah... it's a bit heavy handed on the acting but this comes off different than the other ones. Still idk, been baited and switched way too much. I'm okay with Star Trek changing to a new audience but I was 26 when Discovery came out so I must have gotten old super fast XD.

Picard-4-7-Alpha-Tango was the self destruct code for the Enterprise E. It was used in Nemesis after Picard slammed the Enterprise into the Scimitar. It was also used in First Contact when Picard, Worf, and Crusher tried to blow up the Enterprise.
@LGranthamsHeir
@LGranthamsHeir Жыл бұрын
Also used when Picard wanted to self-destruct the E after it had encountered the Borg Sphere in the "First Contact." Dr Crusher and Worf were the two officers confirming Picard's instructions and it seems they're going to play major roles this season.
@Glacier36
@Glacier36 Жыл бұрын
Actually I believe that was Picard's command authorization code on the E more than the Self Destruct Code. He used it earlier in First Contact to accept a secure transmission from Admiral Hayse before everything kicked off. Still, nice nod.

Yeah, goes to his old arse communicator. The show even asks why as a deflection but does it give a real answer? I'd ask why Beverly would think Jean-Luc would ever get the message that way, even if she knew he'd hang onto the comm badge. It could've been buried in his attic and he'd never even hear the chirp. A bit of a nostalgia overmilking.

It went to the old combadge because of the encryption used to send the message. It’s likely that the communicators of the 25th century don’t monitor for the equivalent of modern-day 3G signals.

Yep, that was pure nostalgia bait and made zero sense. Why wouldn't the encrypted message just go to his personal comm system anyways? The shows and such were very clear that communicators were short range, low powered devices only. They worked pretty much only within the network range of a starship or base. To go to the commbadge, the signal had to come through the planetary comm grid anyways. Of course, I doubt the writers of Picard thought any of this through and went "Oooh, memba TNG's commbadge? The fans will LOVE that!"

Okay...the futuristic victrola is...trippy Somebody needs to explain it 1. With replicator technology, they could easily produce period accurate analog media in any format - so no need for a weirdly futuristic victrola. 2. Physical storage media only really makes sense for analog formats - especially given the (purported} advancements in computer tech by the TNG time-period. In other words, the futuristic victrola makes absolutely no sense on any level. Just sayin' Also unused com-badge in a storage container for 30+ years, but the powerhouse still holds charge? Seriously? I mean, the symbolism is cute, but no way in hell mhebs gonna hear that sound and be abto track it down to exactly the right storage box. 2. Why the hell would Picard have an old style com badge clipped to his old uniform anyway? Again with the cute callbacks to TNG, but...nah. it's simultaneously too clever in one direction, and too stupid in another. There was good stuff about (some of) Picard, but this clip is spore-drive level stupid. Add to this the implicationmthat literally every com-badge (including those stored in boxes and completely forgotten about but still miraculously retaining a full charge) has a totally unique address of some kind which can evidently be voingedv by anyone within subspace range. That's...just insanely convenient. 3. A "codecv requiring a pass-code? They don't have key-gens or brute force decryption or suchlike in the future? Again...wow. So much effort invested into detail, and yet they still fail where it matters.

The advanced mobile emitter of the doctor could hold a charge for centuries, millennia even, it is 29th century technology, but I doubt a simple communication and data storage device would consume nearly as much power as the mobile hardlight emitter. Modern radioactive decay generators could already produce power for probes and rovers for more than that so I doubt that is nearly as in feasible as you think it is. Secondly that's how encryption works???? Sure keygens and pass codes might exist, but those will take months or even years to crack open with a standard computer even in the 24th century. Encryption is a game of cat and mouse, if cracking improves so will encryption.

Why would a space faring civilization like have wind farms as they show in the pilot of Strange New Worlds, and why would they have a audio system that is made to look like a phonograph, delivers crappy old phonograph sound, yet is clearly not actually a phonograph? Some to the props used in this trek is just dumb. They have reactors that can power star ships as well as entire cities with advanced reactions and don't need to affect things like wildlife, just as they have holodecks and advanced sound reproduction systems that don't need to be crappy. If they want to use a phonograph, then use a phonograph. Picard likes old stuff, give him an actual vintage phonograph so he can listen to music from 400 years ago, for some reason, not some ridiculous imitation that uses advanced data storage. Also, turn on the lights!!
@angelrivera2339
@angelrivera2339 Жыл бұрын
How do you know that phonograph is not an antique? It reminds me of my mother's vinyl player that has a cassette and CD player attached to it. It is probably just one of those eccentric novelty creations that you see advertised all over the internet ads. Is it a gift from Will Riker perhaps? Perhaps it is something that the Picard family owned for a couple of centuries. We forget how much time 400 years actually is. How many times did people built devices like this one over the centuries? All I know is that it fits Picard with his loving things from the past and embracing the future. As for the wind farms, I don't see why that is so strange. It is probably more practical than building the infrastructure for advanced power production. It is also strikes me that a lot of the people that live on farms in Star Trek want the simple life. It is a common theme that is explored in Star Trek. When does technology gets to the point that we start losing our humanity.
@feathersigil2048
@feathersigil2048 Жыл бұрын
Why would Federation Earth have wind farms? Why not? They can fully control the weather as per TNG, why wouldn't they derive renewable energy from it? That doesn't conflict with whatever global power system (as per DS9, the power grid is for the entire Earth) they're using.
