I believe she is reducing the art work into terms digestible for non-artist types. I watched a documentary with Francois Gilot (Picasso late wife) where she talks about how he wanted to portray the violent cycle of human suffering and those who profit from it in this painting, she said that for Picasso, painting was a tool to expose the brutality that humanity is capable of, at any given moment. Picasso himself has stated that 'Painting is nothing less than political war-fare...' or something along those lines, it's a great quote :)

Guernica is one of the most RIDICULOUS pieceso visual art I have ever seen. Besides, the 3/4 o the whole of Picasso's work, is kitschy , very bad art. But it is the visual arts establishment that makes brain washing to people .
