There are a col of good on-line teachers but you are the best and easy to understand that I've come across,,,,from a 72 year old self taught and not real confident picker. Thanks a mil !!

Tks 4 the lesson. That picking hand always needs some work, that's the rhythm driver of playing 👍

Nerds (me?) will call this spatial recognition. A huge achievement in playing guitar, or piano, is when you know where the notes are, where the chords are, where the strings are, without having to look at them. Muscle memory is part of this. I like the idea of learning to do these exercises with your eyes closed. Picture it in your head. I've still got a l-o-o-o-o-ng way to go.

Great skill building video, thanks! Slightly off topic question, what thickness pick do you recommend for newer guitar players?
@Relaxandlearnguitar Жыл бұрын
Glad you liked it! I recommend starting with a medium thickness. That way you can move up or down if you need to. I favor medium picks.

Hi Kevin, this is Tony. I have NEVER rested my wrist on the bridge like you seem to be doing in this exercise. Whether I'm fingerpicking or strumming, My wrist is not resting on the bridge. I'm wondering if I practice this picking exercise without resting my wrist on the bridge will detract from the purpose of the exercise? Thanks for the video!
@Relaxandlearnguitar Жыл бұрын
I have found that resting my wrist helps me stay aware of where my fingers are. Otherwise my hand “floats”. Do what works for you. If you can keep track with your wrist up that is fine.
