Kevin. I have been following you with great enthusiasm. Your teaching techniques demonstrate to those who want to learn how to play guitar can learn to play with ease. You tell your audience. Don't get frustrated. You can do it. All it takes is a little patience and practice. My best advice for beginners is to pick up the guitar 2 or 3 times a day and spend 15 minutes each time you pick it up. You will surprise yourself in about a month. Great job Kevin.. Thanks for being out there teaching

Hi! I just stumbled upon your video. What awesome sensible advice! I am an older learner and am struggling a bit because I'm not sure what to practice. But you and Maggie have given me some great ideas on how to practice so that I can practice with consistency so that I know I'll get better! Just wanted to say thanks! Keep the videos coming.

Good channel. I discovered you today and your oddly specific audience demographic fits me pretty well. I'm not 40 but I've lived a pretty rugged 36 years. Since I was about 10 I've always had an acoustic guitar yet 25 years later all I can really do is play cowboy chords. I'm trying to rededicate myself and your channel will be a valuable resource.... Right now I'm trying to work on scales, as it's really the basis of anything played on a guitar and connects everything. KZbin has plenty of videos of this pattern, that pattern, how to do this, how to do that but I can't find anything that gives me a roadmap that shows where u want to be and the steps to getting there. Going to search your vids now but if you don't have anything that would be some great future content. Cheers

Welcome! Thanks for checking out the channel. Enjoy the lessons. I focus mostly on strumming and picking songs. I can add your suggestion to the lesson requests though.

In an interview, McCartney revealed that most every guitarist in the world plays Blackbird not at all as it was originally recorded. He said he played it with just his thumb and pointer finger, and it wasn’t a plucking of picking of the strings as most trying to play it do, but more of a finger and thumb strumming action. Most players try to emulate him by using the thumb and two finger picking style. He said that’s definitely not how he recorded it.

my tip,... if you have to wash dishes, use a latex glove on your fretting hand, avoid hot soapy water on your fingertips. keep that hand out of the bathtub, and also ,,,, practice a few songs , so you can switch songs when you are getting frustrated , it"s better to practice another song, than to stop playing
@Relaxandlearnguitar2 жыл бұрын
Excellent tip! Thanks for sharing that!

Agree. Depending on your climate, job, hobbies, the hands can get lots of unwanted nicks etc. I would also say Just aim for 5 minutes a day. Easy objective. It won’t be 5, you will likely spend more time especially as your hand conditioning improves. Im certain it is the short practices several times per week that have lead to the greatest improvements Finally 😜
