you can still do it, you dont have to slide it by the ground, just slice through the bottom of the shuttle let it flow into your racket then control it's movement up to stop it from moving too far or getting flicked off

Nope! It should work with all shuttles

Your racket matters though. Head heavy rackets are much much more easier picking up shuttlecocks than light ones.
