While you’re waiting on a seal kit, pick up an o ring at your local hardware store for the cap. I don’t remember the exact size, but o rings are fairly inexpensive. I’ve encountered more bad cap rings than any other problem with various air guns. Also, I’ve used another little trick on guns that are dry and have been idle for long periods of time. I remove the CO2 cylinder, stand the gun with the muzzle pointing upward, and then drop two or three drops of pellgun oil onto the face of the valve/piercing tip. I then cock the gun and dry fire it several times. The oil will lubricate the internal seals. I then just let it soak for a day. This is not meant to replace badly worn seals, but may get you a little shooting time until you can do a complete seal replacement. I recently did this with a Smith and Wesson 78g that had been in storage for several years. It is still holding air after over a month. I’ve also used a few drops of automatic transmission stop leak with some success. While not a long term solution, an extra shot of pellgun oil or the stop leak can revitalize old seals can have you shooting while you’re waiting on new seals.

I purchased a beauty (180) from Baker Airguns a few weeks ago. Talk about nostalgia. 😄

You may want to check out the Crosman 400 rifle . A CO2 bolt action pellet gun repeater with a tubular magazine , Much like the Crosman 600 pistol you reviewed earlier .

The fellow that loaned me the Crosman 150 and hy score has a 400. He said he would bring it in and let me check it out.

Disappointing the seals leaked. That would drive me crazy because I'm impatient and would want to shoot it now

I’m going up to Syracuse to the VA for a hearing test in a few weeks , Might have to stop by the Butternut Sports Shop to check it out

These old Crosman air guns are great . Well made out of wood & steel . Very little if any plastic . What’s nice is you can rebuild them . The new guns are all made out of plastic and when they break I guess you just throw them in the dumpster and buy a new one .

You have to figure that the rubber seals in these old air guns are over 50 years old and are going to have to be replaced .

I got lucky with my 1400 I guess. I will probably reseal just because

If anyone has a scuba tank/yolk for their pcps, I found that the o-ring to join the two was a perfect fit for my 180's co2 cap. I just wish I could share the size with you guys. I don't remember it. 😣🙂

Lot of good information. On the Howard's Restore A Finish have you had it react or cause issues with metal finishes? Also have you tried any of the Diana pistols? I'm tempted by a Co2 model. Lol

I actually use the howards on metal too, cleans it very nice, i have not come across a diana pistol yet. Hope to though

@@WalnutandSteel The Diana Airbug seems to have good reviews. I was looking for a good dependable model - wooden stock - but not over expensive & 177 caliber. Indoor shooting mostly so don't need excessive power.

I haven’t done a lot of research on the modern stuff that is available
@billdye35302 жыл бұрын
@@WalnutandSteel I like the older stuff that has history behind it. In researching Diana - Mayer & Grammelspacher- is over 132 yrs old. Started in Germany but was bought & moved to England after WWII Then in 2014 bought by GSG. Made arms for Beeman, Hy Score, etc. Fun checking history on things. Stay safe & take care.

I love how you can take an old air gun and fix it up and make it functional again . Today we live in a throw away society and everything is manufactured to be used until it breaks then you have to buy a new one , Too expensive to fix the old one . This is by design . The manufacturer can make more money by selling you a new replacement rather then fooling around with fixing the old one . But at what cost to the environment ? All the old merchandise ends up in the landfill that otherwise could of been repaired and reused ?

Never heard of this Restore a finish product it was interesting! Older airguns were so much better :( This design looks alot like the beeman qb78
@WalnutandSteel2 жыл бұрын
I didn’t know about that qb78 so I went and checked it out. They are pretty close but I believe they are a direct copy of the Crosman 160.
@charlesculnane75202 жыл бұрын
@@WalnutandSteel Yes , The Crosman 160 was such a great co2 air rifle that a company here in the US had China make a copy of it with a few improvements . I own a couple of each of both the Crosman & the QB 78 . I like the old Crosman better , but the QB 78 is a good rifle for the money

Wonder if the seal kits are interchangeable with the qb78 and 160?

@@WalnutandSteel I can’t remember , but I think they changed the valve assembly on the QB78 . Check out Archer Airguns , they used to have a lot of info on what parts were compatible between the Crosman 160 & the QB78

I’ve got a crosman 180 and got a seal kit from Henry ford installed and I’m still losing all the co2 out the barrel when I pull the trigger, any ideas?
