+LockPickingLawyer Thank you. Your last video of the narrow keyways and the tip of how to pick them inspired me. Thank you for the idea to look inside a plug to understand the warding. Cheers.

Cheers, sir. I was wondering why my (old style) 45/40 was behaving the way it does, since it seemed to me a bit on the cheap side to have any fancy pins. Now I know better.

Excellent video. Sparrows has a SSDEV hook set. maybe that could be used on a lock like that
@Potti3149 жыл бұрын
+RJ Robert James Thank you. Will check out that hook set.

I have been struggling with this one for a while now. I considered trying to pick it with dimple picks, but haven't tried yet

Thanks for this. I bought 3 of these and haven't opened one yet. I thought about making a pick especially for them. Now I know what I'm up against! Great video.

Fantastic explanation as always, very interesting. Currently I've got an old one here, and I was wondering about the problems I had the last time. I had to grind down the width of the pick to reach the pins.

Yes, these keyways are nasty. Glad you got your open.

+Lukes Locks Thank you. It was a nightmare to not being able to pick this lock, so I decided to look very close to the spaces left in the plug for a pick to maneuver. Thank you very much for your nice comment. I appreciate it very much.

Very interesting to see the cutaway of this lock, and how the pin tubes/keyway are so tight. I have an Abus 70/45 which I have never been able to pick except by accident - until today - after seeing your vid, I understand the problems I was having, which were mainly with setting the spool pins - they would start to move, then seem to stop, and I would be bending the pick :o( I can now just about pick it - I have ordered a deeper Southord hook like yours, which I may modify when it arrives to make it thinner still ! Thanks for the effort you put into this video :o) Dave

ABUS uses 3 types of key profiles. The 2 you have and a Yale type. The oldest lock is a cheap version the newer lock is the most expensive.The Yale type costs inbetween the other locks.

i have an Abus 45/40 but its a steel laminated one not brass, have u come across one of these and is their any difference in the core, its 5 pins, one standard & the rest spools, unfortunately i have no key, thank you
@Potti3144 жыл бұрын
No, I don't think that I have tried a lock that you describe. Is it hard to pick? Does it have this nasty keyway?
@merrypickster78244 жыл бұрын
@@Potti314 no actually keyway is rather wide open with a little warding, the spools dont feel real deep either, theirs almost no counter rotation its real subtle
