I just picked up a 532 this morning and my experience pretty much mirrored yours (albeit slower...lol). I was both surprised and impressed at the amount of resistance it showed to SPPing. As always, excellent video, I enjoyed it. Thank you.

You motivated me to learn the craft. Just got my first set of picks. This was actually my first pick ever. Raked it. I can't tell enough by feel to know which pin I had to manipulate to open it. 2 rakes and fished the last pin.

Great picking, of course. I doubt this locks relatively nice pick resistance (for master) was intentional on masters part, they probably accidentally did it.

Great video as always. I was definitely getting counter rotation on some of the pins and was tempted to doubt myself, but I persisted using the technique you taught me for picking spools and I got it open. Then I watched your video and smiled really big the instant you mentioned counter rotation.

Do you have any picks on tiny padlocks? Just interested to see if they present a challenge due to having small keys. Do all small padlock/locks have poor security apart from small dimensions?

I looked at one of these at ACE today. The keyway is slightly different than the one you show from 7 years ago. It is roughly the same but slightly more paracentric. The keyway in yours on the right comes down from the pins and moves to the left at a 45° angle. The one I saw today comes down very little then moves to the left at a 90° angle with no room to put even a 15 thousandths pick up anyplace close to straight. Regardless of the keyway I didn't get it because it is not gutable.

Just recently opened mine, this is an extremely underrated lock at its price point, build quality is excellent, 5 pins, at least a couple spools, and defeated me for longer than my 410, or my abus 83/50. If only they had gone with an interchangeable core model, this would be a featured lock all over the place.

I had a very old padlock that it could be opened with what I would call a birthday attack. There was like 4 different keys that had the right groove, size but biting was super different but they all opened it. I got one of these locks some time back i intentionally looked for this as was curious how bad it would be.

I just got my pick set yesterday. This is unfortunately my first lock. It's been a pain. I've got it open twice. It actually has 4 spools. I'm a very new picker and I've had trouble opening this thing. I might get some easier locks to start with. I just had this laying around. Bosnian bill took a look at the guts in a video.

I’m just starting out learning this trade. I happened to find this lock with no key and thought this would be fun to open. I have gotten it open 4 times but not in a row or anything close. I’m just kind of fumbling around still. Is this a good lock for a beginner to be using or should I perhaps find some easier locks until I can grasp the concepts and get an idea of what I’m doing? Thanks for the videos, you’re awesome!
@kenfuciusfpv28005 жыл бұрын
It makes me wonder which master is actually the best of the bunch. Bosnian Bills popped open twice easily. Mine gives me a little fight every time, but I always get it open. I agree though, as far as Master locks go, it's pretty good (at least mine and the one in this video). Which Master locks are as good or better?

Very nice pick, I got one of these oddly enough at my auto parts store. But other than the nonremovable core, it's an awesome lock for $12. But now I am probably going to work at removing that core pin and see inside. Thanks for sharing, Great video M8
@lockpickinglawyer7 жыл бұрын
Good luck getting that pin out. If other locks are any indication, it will be inserted with an interference fit and harder than the lock body making it ideal for deflecting (and breaking/dulling) drill bits. Hard to get out without destroying the lock.

Nice to see a Master Lock with a little resistance... That's a first for me ;) I noticed that you used off the chart hard tension.. Do you think that could relate to why you had different picks on it each time? Personally I use feather light tension, and so far I've been able to map out a specific sequence for every lock I've picked (For comparison, my hardest pick so far is this lock: kzbin.info/www/bejne/b5yWdppqfdeSgtU ).
@lockpickinglawyer7 жыл бұрын
90% of the time, I can pick a lock the same way every time I open it regardless of tension... on better made locks, the picking order can be the same with PRECISION picking, but more often than not, it will pick differently each time. As far as tension goes, heavy tension contributes to picking consistency because it is easier to moderate heavy tension. If you haven't seen my video #188, I explain my approach to tensioning locks.
@andersjjensen7 жыл бұрын
WOW!.. Thank you Sir! In video 188 you just articulated a whole lot of what has been rattling around in the back of my mind, just out of reach. I'll vise up my training lock and test it all out. My only concern is, as you also state, being hard on the picks. I am running off a dual gauge Praxis kit, but so far I've only really been able to use the .015 ones, as the dragging of the .023 ones drives me nuts. My point being that I am afraid to damage the fragile .015 ones, as someone still needs to publish single pick selection that isn't a joke price wise (I am especially eyeballing you Peterson-with-$10-and-above-single-picks).

Have you tried sanding them down, you normally can get them down to at least 0.022 and gets rid of some of the burrs on them.

@lockpickinglawyer7 жыл бұрын
Well, to be fair, many of their products (particularly in the pro series) are comparable to other major brands. But they also have more than their share of products that are really bad, and those products give the company a bad reputation. As far as their old stuff goes, with a couple of exceptions (i.e., Master 19), their old stuff was no better.

I'm not really interested in picking this lock. I lost my keys and was wondering since it cannot be rekeyed, can I obtain a new set from Master Co. directly? Or will someone PLEASE sell me a copy? I will pre-pay for all of the expenses like getting a set made, (or just one) Your time and efforts, gasoline ⛽️ and last but not least, U.S. Postage. And while we are on the subject. I dropped my keys in the rapids on our family's vacation this past summer, up on that tour boat The Maid Of The Mist Niagara Falls, NY. We had a blast, got soaked, walked our ass' off, FLIPPED OFF JUSTIN TREÂDEAÛ as our tour boat 🚢 inched over the U.S.A. / CANADIAN BORDER 😂😂😂 WE THINK THAT HE STARTED TO CRY 😢AS WE YELLED OBSENITIES AND RAISED OUR ARMS PROUDLY, AND EXTENDED OUR MIDDLE FINGERS AS 🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕"HIGH" AS WE COULD. NOW MIND YOU, THE BOAT HOLDS LIKE 200 SOULS I BELIEVE. AND THAT THING WAS SOLD OUT. I REMEMBER BECAUSE WE TRIED TO CHANGE OUR BOAT TOUR AND WE WERE S.O.O.L. SO YA, IN THEORY, IF THE KEYS GET BOUNCED AROUND NATURALLY WITH LOTS OF LUCK PLUS ANOTHER ICEAGE OR 3 THEY MIGHT MAKE THEIR WAY BACK HERE TO ME IN NORTH WEST PENNSYLVANIA AFTER THEY FLUSH OUT OF LAKE ERIE. HOPEFULLY THEY DON'T GO THROUGH TO LAKE HURON. THEY HAVE TO MAKE A HARD RIGHT AND GO SOUTH . IT'S POSSIBLY POSSIBLE, RIGHT FELLAS........🥴HELLO...............🫣🫣🫣
