Great 101 vid Michael, just the vid we need to watch when we are starting with these cool locks. Very informative, picks up all the aspects that we often overlook without realizing when we talk about these locks, since we believe them obvious, but for which it starts are not. Is a reference video to start in the dimples picking. Great work buddy Thanks for sharing ;o))

Excellent video and everything a beginner needs to know about dimple locks. Not sure about why Dimple locks have, often, more pins but I'd imagine it's to offset the fact that the available pin heights in a dimple lock are reduced i.e. Get a similar or increased amount of variation/security with a similar key length???

Thank you - your explanation meets the info of another viewer. Seems reasonable.

Potti314 cool. Well, it seems logical even if it's wrong, lol

Very nice video. I haven't picked a Dimple lock. Finding a decent dimple pick set can be difficult. It's definitely something I will get into eventually. 👍

Thank you. You should try it. The Spooxe set is very nice, also the Chinese one (from HUK) that I showed is not really bad.

What a great and helpful video! A wonderful overview of dimple locks... I was in Spain the first time I saw a dimple lock. I had been picking locks for a while at that point, but remember thinking "How in the world could someone pick that lock?".
@Potti3147 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much :-) Spain has same great locks - no wonder that you got in contact with dimple locks there. I cannot help myself, wherever I go around, I always have to inspect (or at least give a quick look to) the locks that I pass by: Padlocks, door locks, bike locks,... Even my children sometimes draw my attention to special locks - crazy hobby ;-)

Thanks Potti, Have a few keyed alike I need the keys for in US. The ex husband of a client took the keys to his former private office and vault. Now picking the ISEO dimple and decoding pins. The picks I have are too thick and I will adapt accordingly. Appreciate details.

Standard pin tumbler locks like the Basi or BKS shown are available starting at 30 or even 27 mm. Dimple locks, too. The difference is the number of available cut depths. BKS has 9 different key pins available, most dimple locks around 4 to 6 (+/-). To allow for a sufficient number of differs, you need six pins. Thinner pins simply allow for a six-pinner to be built with the same cylinder lengths as a five pinner with 'thick' pins.

Thank you very much for taking the time to explain that so nicely. Makes totally sense. Great :-)

What I like about this video is how you had Spooxe picks, but you used Banggood picks all the way through. The price for handcrafted picks may be better suited for locks with better tolerances. The Banggood picks are a fraction of the price of the Spooxe picks.
@Potti3145 жыл бұрын
Yes, sometimes the cheapest pick will do the job. This time it worked out nicely with the Chinese tools ;-)

Change of subject. Do you have any idea where the Basi is ? Started thinking about it, after Bobby picked a basi from potti from march 2017. - thinking about the Basi taking over the lynx mission

While watching this video, for the first time in my life, I finally picked open one of my dimple locks, twice!!! But, now I have a problem. The lock bolt rotated 180 degrees and I cannot pick it open or closed and the key disn't fit inside the key way any more.
@Potti3146 жыл бұрын
Congratulations. If the plug is stuck at 180 degree, you have to push down the driver pins and turn the plug back. Bye.
