Old school otaku here. I believe L isn't WU. L is an investigator, he like sto solve things, he likes to discover things. L ONLY accepts to investigate cases that he finds interesting (= U, R, UR, etc). L doesn't investigate for the sake of justice. L doesn't investigate for the sake of order. I believe that Light Yagami is WU. He believes in order, he believes that humans have the obligation of being useful to society, he has inflexible moral values, he is a perfectionist (he always try to be (or appear to be) the best big brother, the best student, the best son, he has never killed a prisioner which case was doubtful, etc), he doesn't like hedonist people (for example, students who choose to play football with friends instead of studying at home), he doesn't like "social parasitism", he hides his feelings and intentions very well, he is a good "actor", he is a strategist, he is intelligent, etc. Light Yagami represents perfection, manipulation, subtlety, education, law..therefore, WU. One MINOR gripe I have...in Mega Man X, they're called "Reploids", not Replicants. But now that that's out of the way, I just gotta say that this was some impressive work and your reasoning is very sound. Doctor Strange I think was one of the ones I wasn't really sold on at first, but after hearing your thoughts, I can see why he'd be in Sultai; smart and ambitious, but also rooted and grounded. And listening to you talk about Edward really made me think about Grixis as a philosophy and kinda black overall. It almost seems that mono-black is MORE likely to lean into villainy because ALL they have is their ambition and amorality. But when other colors come in and have something to say, they dilute black's selfishness or give it new focus. One example of a MAGIC character that I think is misunderstood is Lazav. While it is true that he is manipulative, cunning, and serves his own ambition of leading House Dimir, blue comes in when Ravnica itself is under threat, as he uses all resources at his disposal to see that threat exposed and eliminated because Ravnica is his home too. To Lazav, the safety of himself is the safety to all of Ravnica.

Great video! Especially combined with your latest video about using Color Pie instead of Alignment Chart. Such examples of different characters are something I find missing in your color review series. Those videos mostly focused on deep ideologies and societies, and sometimes it isn't exactly clear how some combination would work on a scale of a single person. Not to mention that you usually took those to an extreme. It was useful to see more-or-less heroic examples of certain color combinations, especially Black-based. For example, based on your video, I had a hard time imagining a Red-Black character that wouldn't be a murderhobo, but your example of Captain Jack Sparrow really opened my eyes to the real meaning of this combination. Can't wait for more of such videos. Please don't stop after you do Villains, it's such a great format. Maybe Part 2 of Heroes, or something like that.?

I think Luffy from One Piece is a better mono red character than Sonic. Sonic opposes Dr Eggman on a moral basis. Dr Eggman kidnapping forest animals is something that Sonic considers unacceptable and tries to stop. In contrast, whenever Luffy stops an evil character, it's only after they have wronged one if his friends. The conflict is purely emotional with no regard to morality. That feels a lot more red to me

What's funny is that I would actually swap the colors of Aang and Harry Potter. Aang has very little Blue in his character. He's eager to learn, yes, but he mostly does it for the sheer joy of it and experience, rather than methodically shaping himself into the Avatar he's meant to be (it's noteworthy that all of his teachers have to push him in some way to strive beyond whatever natural talent he has, and when Earthbending didn't come naturally to him, he spent a good chunk of the day demoralized). When he tried to be stoic while crossing the Serpent's Pass, it wasn't sincere at all-he was trying to hide/numb the pain of losing Appa. Aang wants the world to exist in harmony, to restore balance to the world-which is very Green (and might I add, the mission statement of the Avatar period. Seriously, every Avatar seems to become far more Green when they come to grips with what being the Avatar truly means, whether they leap at the call or not). As for Harry...well, personally, I'd just put him down as Red/White, but one can argue he has his moments of Blue. He takes to the Wizarding World with general curiosity and wonder, and even though there are subjects he doesn't do particularly well in, he focuses his energy on trying to become an Auror. If he isn't lashing out in emotion, he's bearing his burden of being the Chosen One with a stiff upper lip. But the reason I'd say Harry isn't Green is...well, truthfully? He hates the prophecy. It's present in the whole series (more the books than the movies), but especially after Voldemort returns, he hates that his life has come to this, that Voldemort, in his psychotic, egomaniacal defiance of death and lust for power, is gonna play this out to the end. He spends so much of books 5-7 angsting over the lives ruined by the conflict, constantly wondering how things could have been different. He wonders if Neville is the real Chosen One, as he technically could qualify because he was born the same day Harry was. While he faces death itself to beat Voldemort, it's less him accepting fate and more wanting to end all the pain and death Voldemort brings. He accepts the prophecy...but only after it dragged him kicking and screaming.

@DiceTry3 жыл бұрын
I haven't watched that? Would you want to expand on why, I'm curious to learn
@nicolaezenoaga97563 жыл бұрын
@@DiceTry Ok so it's an animated show that I watched when I was kid back in 2012-2014. I was probably in 3th-4th grade at that time. It was made by a company called ''Man of action'', the same folks who made Ben 10 and they end it in 2014. The show takes place in ower real world, for the most part, with the only difference being that any liveing thing can at any moment turn into mutated monsters called Evos. It all started when a group of scientists started to work on a project to create nano machines named nanites with the purposes of solving basically every problem imaginable, from broken bones to food production, all of witch were going to be coordinated by 6 specially designed ones. However not everybody who worked on the project had such nobel goles, that one individual being the aforementioned Van Klise, who wanted to use the nanites to give himself the tools required to attempt a hostile takeover of every nation on the planet( that's the best way I can describe it without makeing it sound corny; I swear the writing is actually amazing). However two his fellows (the parents of the M.C. Rex) discovered his power hungry ambitions and tried to incriminate him. Now the series never tells us what exactly happened but it's assumed that a fight broke up and in the mids of it an accident happened witch caused an explosion to happen witch killed half the the staf at the facility (except V.K who managed to get away alive) and released the nanites in the atmosphere. Now a negative consequence of violently realising a type of technology witch can modify an organisms RNE, DNA, the organisms cells and their arrangement, and throwing it's programing out of the rails was (once they entered in the body of every/ large portion of every organisam on the planet) that now theirs a small chance for said organisms to turn into an Evo. Afterwords the riche jerks who founded the project decided to take responsibility for their actions (probably for the first time in their lives) and secretly fund (the project was a secret and, with the exemption of the surviving scientists and the funders, most people in the world don't know how nanites work or where they came from) an organization to deal with them called Providence. Now after Prov tired the following: lock them up (didn't work they were to many and some couldn't be contained) and molecular dissection (too cruel) they found their hope in young 10 year old Rex who was also an Evo but with some notebel differences: 1. he's transformation didn't turn him into a rabide beast, or turn him at all (theirs planty of others like that), and 2. he gained some pretty amazing abilitys, mainly create machinery out of he's body such as weapons and vehicles, but most importantly the ability to revert Evo back to their original state/natural state of being but only temporarily. Because of this three reasons Prov. toke him into their custody, train him and send him on missions to deal with such threats. As a character Rex is a quite intallegent individual with a kind heart and who deaply cares for those few people who he can family, but at same time he can also be a reckless, authority defaining irresponsible idiot who couldn't care less about the consequences of he's actions. Now part of that dose come from the fact that The White Knight (the official leader of the organization) dose tend to see him as more of a tool rather then a person. Overall G.R. was an great action series with greate characters witch couldn't recommend more I hope I managed to convince you to check it out.

If you ever do another one of these, I might make a suggestion for Joey Wheeler from the Yugioh series. Red is most definitely the appropriate color for him. He's impulsive, positive, and he often gets into fights throughout the series. Of course, he is also quite reckless as he often gets into sticky situations. But usually, it's for those he cares for like Yugi and his sister, Serenity.

I felt the need to throw in the Teen Titans: Starfire: Red/White - her power comes from her emotions, indicative of red, but her strength specifically comes from righteous indignation, a feeling of offense at the sight of injustice. Starfire could land as mono red as her overall strength is almost raw emotion and raw impulse, but that inability to harm others, even villains, does show a strong moral white-ness to her that I felt Red/White was more fitting. Raven: Blue/White - As Starfire's opposite, Raven had to be the Blue counter to Starfire's Red impulse. Raven is a scholar. Her powers require focus, discipline, and emotionless detachment. Her powers are to extend her mind and soul to manipulate things and people around her. If I were to give Raven an alignment, she would be Lawful Good. Raven opposes evil in all of its forms, even when it's a dear friend. Raven is the first to say that even a friend must be stopped without mercy if they've turned to evil. This is Raven's true White-ness, as she will tolerate no evil if she can stop it. Yet there is room to argue that Raven should be Blue/White/Red, as her powers come from her emotional state, and boundless emotion leads to dangerous overuse of power. But Raven suppresses her emotions, which again reinforces the Blueness of her mana. Surprisingly though, Raven has no black. Raven will use intimidation when necessary, but that is as far as Raven will go in the name of greater good. When Raven actually hurts an innocent person, she is overcome with shame and remorse. Raven may use dark powers for good purposes, but when offered the chance to add truly dark magic to her repertoire, she uses it only to thwart the man who taught her, and then never uses this dark magic ever again, despite knowing these more powerful and dangerous spells. Raven's Blueness is also apparent in her disdain for Green, as she has a horrible destiny, and she herself states that her being a hero is in the hopes of doing enough good to counteract the evil she is destined to become. And by the end of the series, Raven has completely thwarted and rejected her destiny, and Raven knows that the only person who can determine her destiny is her, which is as close to Black as she will ever get. Robin: White/Black/Blue - The only Titan to become a villain (twice, in fact), Robin will get his hands as dirty as possible to catch a criminal. Everything he does is in the name of justice, but he will manhandle innocent pedestrians, lie, cheat, steal, and sabotage to complete his objective. When he has a mission, it consumes him body, mind, and soul. He has trained his body to overcome his lack of powers, designs his own gadgets, and takes down his enemies with a helping of strategy. Robin is also driven by a compulsive mission to prove himself good enough to stand on his own two feet with no one else's help, causing him to shut out his friends when he's having problems. This lone wolf mentality almost gets him into trouble several times, and shows the other side of Robin's blackness. Cyborg: Blue/Green/Black - Cyborg is a living example of blue/green in action. A literal fusion of emotion and logic, flesh and machine. Cyborg's very existance is trying to find a balance between the extremes of Blue and Green. As for Black, after Robin, Cyborg is the second most Black-minded of the Titans. Many of his episodes focus on Cyborg's individuality, determining his own fate, setting his own limits, defining his own humanity. Cyborg is very light on the Black, and you really could say that Cyborg is just Blue/Green, but I felt that Cyborg has just enough emphasis on self-determination that I felt Black was appropriate to add to the stew. There's also a case to be made for Blue/Red/Green, as Cyborg is never satisfied for where he is, always looking to upgrade himself. To do better, be better, push himself harder and farther. He's also boisterous and comedic, traits I strongly associate with Red. Cyborg is also a tinkerer, and one who takes great pride in his inventions and gadgets. He's very protective of his car, gets defensive when Robin criticizes a makeshift spacecraft originally meant to be a submarine, and gets very personally offended when people get past his security system, getting hacked, or having his blueprints stolen and repurposed by Brother Blood. A pride which certainly has shades of Black and Red. Beast Boy: Green/Red - Beast Boy is a perfect embodiment of Green, as he tells Cyborg in one episode "I can be the biggest, fastest, strongest animals in the Animal Kingdom. But sometimes, the best thing I can be is a slow, little turtle." Beast Boy has a strong sense of harmony and tradition in his carefree laid-back personality. He doesn't tend to worry about things, and assumes most things will work out just fine. As for Red, Beast Boy generally reacts on emotion, and he's pretty good about it. Beast Boy doesn't make plans, but he can work with what he's handed. When he's in a fight, he can switch up his animal at a moment's notice to take advantage of whatever is needed in that instant. When all he had was the remnants of the honorary Titans to lead against the Brotherhood of Evil, Beast Boy still found a way to use their very unfamiliar powers to his advantage. Beast Boy is also the comedian of the group, which just feels very Red to me. Beast Boy may have some shades of White as he desperately craves the approval of his leaders and has a strong sense of comradery with his team, but that may just be more of his green/red personality shining through than any whiteness. Beast Boy's Green/Red also shows why he butts heads with Blue-heavy Raven and Blue/Black Robin, but can get along so well with Red Starfire and Green Cyborg.

Not sure if you have any familiarity with One Piece, but if you do, what colour(s) would you peg Luffy as? Red is a given to me as he's very much an embodiment of freedom and following one's heart. But he's also curious, ambitious and protective, so I'm not sure what combination would make sense for him. On a related topic, is there any chance for you ever to do a video covering the order of each color's presence in a person? Your video where you took the personality test made me thing about that due to the %s one gets at the end. I got Izzet but in third place Black and White were tied, and I do feel like that reflects who I am as a person: A focus on art, science, rationale and heart; with the conflict of society vs. self as a secondary struggle in me, being very social yet anxious, and believing in Egoistic Altruism, that if you focus on learning about yourself, what you truly desire and value, and why that is, you'll come to a way of living where by putting yourself first, you'll desire the best for others as it'll make a better world for all, and at one end of that, oneself. I apologize for how long-winded I was but I wanted to explain why it was a topic I'd love to see covered eventually on this channel, if it is something that appeals to you. Thanks for the video and have a great day!

I am familiar with one piece but haven't watched much of it. Someone in the comments pegged him as red black and i thought that it made a lot of sense. As for your other question. Perhaps it's something I'd cover but it might be better as an article on my website as it might be a little hard explaining how % effect your personality in video format.

@@DiceTry Oh yeah, thanks for pointing that out! I find it funny that I went into this video with him in mind and you ended up giving the Rakdos colour combo to another pirate captain. I suppose it really fits, and those two colours are two of the three that pirates show up in on Ixalan. Certainly, now that you say it, I do realize just how difficult it would be to fit that primary-secondary-terciary/% stuff in the format of a video, both in terms of presentation and amount of information. Is this any chance that you'll make a video or playlist on the four-color philosophies after you finish Re:color? I realize that at four colors it mostly becomes something defined by the one that isn't present, but I have this inkling that you'd still be able to make something fascinating out of it, even if it's one video covering all five.

I found it interesting that in a philosophical analysis of heroic motivations, anti-heroes kept coming up. The idea of an anti-hero can be thought of as someone without heroic motivations but nonetheless motivated to complete an otherwise heroic quest. That is, it is just a coincidence that works out so that someone with less than altruistic feelings is compelled to do something that looks altruistic. And this got me thinking: why the anti-hero? where are the heroes and why are they not interested in completing the quest? Are all anti-heroes secretly agents of destiny and a little bit greenish? Are some quests impossible to complete without getting your hands dirty and thus heroes are unable to do what is required to complete the task? Do anti-hero stories indicate an underlying "providence" in organizing and orchestrating people and events to get things done? If this makes sense, do anti-hero stories more clearly demonstrate a sort of divine providence orchestrating events than the heroic? I have this hypothesis that white and black are abstractions from elements [lol] of green. The order and hierarchy of white ignore the messy and dynamic systems of green and pretends that everything has a static place. The predatory nature and arrogance of black ignore the role apex predators play in maintaining the allostatic dynamics of an ecosystem and pretends that everything in the system is there for the apex predator. So my hypothesis is that the heroic and the anti-heroic story cannot escape the feeling of being called by destiny since the white and black mana of the hero and anti-hero always have a sort of residual from their source as abstractions from green. Hegelian structure for the speculation, i know. But if the idealist shoe fits.

I disagree on aang. White and Red make sense, but not blue at all. Yes aang is a master bender but that's more from his special case of being the Avatar. It just comes naturally to him. His actual personality is very much the opposite of someone striving for perfection l, and this can be seen all the time with him goofing off from his training. What does force him to overcome his "laid back" desires and take his training seriously, is his green side. Airbender philosophy is inherently green by nature, being all about harmony. And being the Avatar is also very green in that it's very aligned with spirituality AND destiny. These aspects of both his identity as an air Nomad and the Avatar is what pushes him to take his training seriously, not an inherent desire for mastery. He MUST become a master to fulfill his duty and destiny as the avatar, and bring harmony back into the world.

Interesting. About Geralt. You made him WUB. But there is a common opinion he is leaning to green or mono green. I disagree about mono but i find the essence of the witchers kinda green-ish. Especially Geralt. He is very neutral the most of the times. He doesn't have any goal or wish. He is strongly connected to the nature with all this potion and mutagen stuff, he is a great tracker. His goal is to keep the balance. So it seems he has that green vibe. The second colour is white. He is not a white knight but he definetely knows what is justice and sometimes he fight for that. He feels his duty. So it seems logical. Although most of the times he doesn't really give a f about what is going on - war, Nilfgaard agression. But he understands they are bad guys here. He just doesn't believe it's his job to fix that. But it wasn't his choice in the beggining so he is to passive and marginal to be full white. Blue. He is smart and he is cold. And he is a master of his craft and yeah, again, he is a tracker. Feels logical. Black. Yes, he tryna yearn a coin but he doesn't do this because of his merantilism. His main job is killing monsters and he does it because he accept it as his destiny. What do you think? Seems like he has something from that but his black and blue traits seems kinda green if we are talking about Geralt. If we coud make him very expensive in the game we could fit every colour in a certain percentage but if we are kinda limited maybe he is just Green and White and a little Blue? Or he is a 4 colour as you said but with green as a main?

I would argue Superman is WR with an emphasis on R. Not in the militant Boros sense, but for the same reason I argue that Clark is Chaotic Good, not Lawful. Clark follows his heart, not any codes, rules, or laws. He respects the law most of the time, sure. But that's because he believes in it, not just because it's law. And he will break any laws or rules in his way if he truly thinks it's the right thing to do. Clark doesn't fight for order. He fights to keep people safe and free.

I think (if you consider him a hero) Godzilla is the perfect example of Jund. Black: Godzilla is driven by pure instinct and selfishness. It doesn't matter what you've done or how big of a threat you really are, you're seen as an obstacle to his simple way of life. Red: Incredibly aggressive and forward, Godzilla fights any creature that stands in his way at the drop of a hat. Green: Godzilla is ageless, a relic from a time before man who comes to remind us just how fragile our society is in the hands of nature.

The fact that we got venom with no Spiderman hurt me spiritually I see spiderman as red-blue, and maybe white. He’s definitely a hero and will definitely save the world/worlds, but a lot of his character and motivation is based on personal things and he definitely is a very intelligent person who’s really shown his mastery in his abilities and knowledge. Whenever we see him in a story he’s basically there just because he got dragged into it because someone he cares about is hurt/involved, best example being the One More Day story. He literally gave up the second most important thing to him because his family got hurt (the most important thing to him). Another good example would be just his backstory and reason for being spiderman

I have to disagree with you on Aang. You put him in Jeskai, but I do not think he fits there. I see how you could be tempted to put him in Jeskai, given that he is a martial artist. However, I do not see Blue in Aang. Granted, he learns new bending styles, but learning new things is not exclusive to Blue; martial discipline can be found in Boros, for example. No, I believe that his color combination is Naya; Aang is a traditionalist, and we've seen time and again how he holds on to the ways of the Air Nomads - or at the very least, what he _remembers_ as the ways of the Air Nomads. Moreover, he is led by destiny, and you have cited destiny time and again as a reason to ascribe a Green color identity to characters. Aang was literally _born_ to the role. If you absolutely _have_ to assign Blue to And, then he would be four-color, not Jeskai.

I can't see a colour combination for Katniss that doesn't include red. She is a rebel, she doesn't conform with the norm and she confronts the status quo as the renegades of kaladesh did. The colour for those rebels that break rules with rage is red. Her rage increased when Rue died so; vengence, another very red feeling. The first film starts with her being with her old love, she takes care of her mother and loves her cat, then she presents as a tribute as an spontaneous decision and for the love she feels for her sister, on the games she is the only one that has a romance story inside the games... Everything she does is passional. I would even put her as monored or maybe white red black.

@eudaldvidalcodony7089 That's not true. You forgot that each color has two sides if you look at the color pie chart. Guts defies his own destiny by surviving the eclipse, and is anything but content in accepting what fate had reserved for him. Apart from that, he's also extremelly cunning in combat, so I think blue would be a match for him, making him grixis aligned at the end. He's also always adapting and incorporating new techniques and equipment in his fighting style, such as the mechanized arm from Rickert or the dagger throwing moves from Judeau.
