That is an impressive feat! We moved our cattle panels in a truck and that was still a little challenging to bend them in the back of the truck. Nice trick! 😃-Cara
@HomesteadOnAPrayer Жыл бұрын
It’s definitely more challenging to bend them when you get multiple panels at once - we were worried about weight so we only did one at a time.

This is awesome! Cattle panels are so long, that is impressive. They are very flexible, though, I am glad you are able to bring them home and use them in the garden. Cattle panels are the best. Good luck with the trellis and garden expansion!

Excellent!!! Great job! That is better than I expected too. Zip ties were a great idea as were the towels to keep it from scratching the car. This looks really good- it is a pain to get them in the truck. I’d sure try it if I didn’t have a truck.

I was thinking about doing this. So, I searched it. Now, I see exactly how it will look. I’ll use my towels as well. You mentioned about the undoing of the zip ties. I’d stake the bottom portion of the teardrop down first to secure it for safety precautions & then slowly undo it from the ends making the middle zip tie(s) the last to undo so it will be balanced.

Thanks for this helpful video! I wanted an arched trellis on which to grow peas, and thought I would have to borrow a pickup, but with the zip ties and towels, I was able to get a cattle panel on my roof rack and get it home from the farm supply store with no problem.

Great idea! We bought one at Fleet Farm and they told us we needed a truck. They probable don’t sell as many as TSC.

That teardrop shape looks like it has the aerodynamic lift of an aircraft wing. Ready for takeoff?
@HomesteadOnAPrayer7 ай бұрын
It worked fine for us, probably because of all of the holes in the panel. I imagine it would be challenging to drive with if it was solid!
@Lochness197 ай бұрын
@@HomesteadOnAPrayer It worked fine for me too, I just picked up two in one go on my SUV last Friday.

@@HomesteadOnAPrayer I think that when we do this I might put the narrow part of the TEARDROP in the front of our CR-v with the bulbous part at the back. less wind resistance by a tiny bit? (visually anyway). I also may use some rubber type padding like an old shower non-skid thing. anything that grips. maybe with the towels? this info really helps! now my husband and any neighbors that help, will not look at me like I am insane! LOL
@ashleys38989 ай бұрын
Wouldn’t it make more sense to have attached it with the large section in the back to be more aerodynamic?
@HomesteadOnAPrayer9 ай бұрын
It’s possible it could have made a difference…we had a fairly short drive and since the cattle panel had a lot of airflow we didn’t worry about it.
@marybethjohnson33057 ай бұрын
OH! I just mentioned that that is my thought! then I see you commented to do that. . great minds, and all that.

You thought 3 cattle panels was too much weight for your roof rack?
@HomesteadOnAPrayer8 ай бұрын
We weren’t sure if 3 at once would be too much or not, but this way we played it safe, and it was also easier for us to manage just one at a time.
@marybethjohnson33057 ай бұрын
@@HomesteadOnAPrayer we are on the same page. we will play it safe with one at a time, fortunately , our Tractor Supply is less that two miles away. why take chances?

I knew there must be a way to do it. It appears that Roadie, the delivery service that Tractor Supply uses is too much of a sissy to do this with their cars and refuses to transport them at all. I'm disabled and live 40 miles from the nearest Tractor Supply and don't know anyone willing to use their car to pick them up, so my trellis is at a dead stop. I think Tractor Supply needs to use another delivery service. I've wasted alot of money using other materials that ended up sagging because they were not rigid enough to hold an arch.
@HomesteadOnAPrayer10 ай бұрын
The cattle panels can definitely be a challenge to transport, but I agree that they work better than any similar alternative. I hope you’re able to pick up some cattle panels this way!
