Lovely video, nice to see you in my town! The Scania has done 45000mil I see, so that's 450000km for the viewers on the continent;-) That wedge that is behind the kingpin on the trailer 10:09 is to steer the rear axle on the trailer. At 11:41 you see the wedge from behind, and the actual locking pin is hidden, you can't actually see this way if it has locked. But the release handle position is sure tell tale.

There are 13 steps from our downstairs, to the next floor (It's a three story house). by the time I've reached the last of the 13 steps, I have to lie on the bed until my breathing and heart rate go back to normal. The effort triggers a violent coughing fit. Not a lot of fun! I'm now in the start of my 8th week of recovery. I am proud to say that I can breath more easily, and I'm nowhere near as weak as I was. I'll be back on the moors hiking, in a week or two, ( hope). The trick is, never to give up. One needs a good, positive, mental attitude. (aka PMA). Onward and upward!!!

Standard EU sizes on the CE license are, semi 16.50m, rigid + trailer 18.75m, cartransporter 20.75m and then we have the LZV or eco combis for which you need 5 years experience and an extra certification and you can drive 25.25m. The LZV we have in multiple possible set ups but the most common is similar to what you normally drive, rigid followed by a trailer, but we have like 6 or 7 different variations they can have. To top it off, some of the newer trucks are slightly longer due to their new aero packages. Aslong as that model falls within a certain turning radius and have certification to go with it they can still pull standard trailers and exceed the max length. It's only a little bit confusing with all the different regulations for different situations.

I feel very fortunate that in my company I drive both semi and full truck depending whichever is needed. So both connections have become very familiar and routine thing for me. And because we have both so the full trailers are made with dollies so I get to connect and disconnect them depending which type of combination is needed. Sometimes I even change the truck middle of the day. I can see and understand the other trailer skills becoming rusty if you are only driving one type.

Hälsningar från Tyskland! Sad that your old company is no longer there but nice that you have something new again. 👍 I was never a driver myself and therefore never drove a truck on the road. I was a mechanic though and I liked semi-trailers much better than two-axle trailers, at least when maneuvering in the workshop... 😅 So nice up there, I hope I can make it back to Sweden next year, and stay a little longer than this year... 😌
