Picking up an E60 M5 after a $15,000 service

Went with my dad and a few friends to pick up his E60 M5 after getting new rod bearings, the entire vanos system refreshed, and everything else it needed to be sorted. Check out the old rod bearings condition at 2:25. Super fun car on some super fun roads. These cars are insane and deserve so much more respect than they get.

Awesome, and congratulations! I hope it's been treating you well. I picked up an E60 M5 last summer that was several states away and drove it 1000 miles home. I also spent about $15,000 on service upon purchase and my rod bearings actually looked a bit worse (lots of copper on half of them). Service included: Rod bearings Vanos HP line Throttle Actuators Front Brakes Upper control arms Spark plugs Tires Various other small things It's a 2008 6 Speed Manual with 89k miles, also in Silverstone Metallic II, with some dealer-installed Dinan parts, including Dinan Intakes Dinan Exhaust Dinan High Flow Throttle Bodies Dinan Stage 3 Tune Dinan Performance Springs

Damn 15k!?!? What else was done besides bearings and Vanos? I just picked up a 2010 M6 and starting to sort out the weak points. I hope this car last your family many generations.

It got rod bearings, a new vanos pump, vanos high pressure line, diff resealed, as well as a new oil cooler. It had been spraying oil everywhere so it got new belts and hoses preventatively since they were coated. I think it got some more stuff too but I forgot what exactly. I’d love a V10 M6 one day

@@ricegarage that’s awesome, she should be solid. I had to change out my oil cooler last week. It had a crack at the feed lines. I know a lot of people weld it but I went with a Mishimoto. Hope to see more vids of the M5!

I’d say it’s fine. Just warm it up before revving it high. This car had 94k on the original bearings

@@ricegarage I’m rn on the market for a 2010 M5 with mileage below 70k miles. It’s hard finding those, especially since only 229 of them were sent to the United States. I also like how the 2010s have the new I-Drive 😏💯.

Since it is a high-speed engine, the bearings of the engine need to be changed every 100 thousand(km).
