Congratulations from the UK! That looks like a stunning cerbera. They're such amazing cars. I've had my Griffith 500 now for 10 years and love it more and more. It's a very similar colour to yours but a shade darker. Just had a blast in it yesterday in the British sunshine! Such a good feeling. Best thing about TVRs is the reaction you get from the public. There's nothing quite like it 😀

Man I can't believe you can finally import the Cerbera under the 25 year rule to the states. I used to drool over this car growing up with Gran Turismo. I hope to see as many TVRs on the road as I see many imported JDM cars in my area of North NJ.

Greetings from the UK! As your car still had its UK plates, I was able to run an MOT check on it and it passed its last two years previous checks with no advisories or issues. If you weren't aware an MOT is an annual roadworthiness test that all cars over 3 years old are legally required to pass to be driven on UK roads. It's pretty thorough so it looks as if your car has been well cared for. Chassis rust is the big problem with Cerberas and yours is clearly in great shape.
@AaronsEccentricGarage2 жыл бұрын
Hey there Andy! Yeah, the previous owner took great care and I was able to see those MOT as well. There's some surface rust here and there but nothing serious. It's been a fun journey. I'm in the middle of doing a full blown review =) So I hope to post that in the coming weeks.

@@AaronsEccentricGarage Looking forward to watching that! I quite fancied a Cerbera but finding a good one even here in the UK is difficult. I'm currently restoring my 1987 Porsche 928 S4 which is a bit different than the Cerbera (but very expensive!)
@AaronsEccentricGarage2 жыл бұрын
@@AndyD070568 Great project! I used to work for Porsche in North Scottsdale, AZ and when I spoke with the parts manager, he shared that the 928 has some of the most expensive parts of all porsches. go figure!

@@AaronsEccentricGarage Yeah, tell me about it. And that's the stuff that's still available! I save a good chunk of cash by doing a lot of the work myself. Most of the mechanical stuff is sorted, just the respray and interior left - the really expensive stuff!!

Wonderful and congratulations! I moved to PA and left my 4.2 cerbera (& chimaera 450) back home, with the engine removed and in pieces. I’ll be curious to know just how hard (& $) it is to import a 25 yr old car. If you need the workshop manuals let me know. Piston heads is a great forum for Tvr’s.

Not if you don't stomp on the accelerator like an idiot. Feed the throttle and use the full length of the pedal. Also the longer wheelbase make this a more stable TVR. I've owned a Cerbera 4.5 and a Tuscan S btw.

just a little surface rust is all. That was one of the many things I had the local shop take a closer look at, prior to pulling the trigger to buy the car. The shop (DGS) says that it's one of the better chassis they've seen that hasn't been replaced yet.

It's been a lot of effort, but well worth it. This car will bite you in the ass soon enough, but I think you have bought a good one as it goes. Better than the nightmare Cartrek Carisma Cerbera, which is a tough starting point. My Dad would say, 'a professional cost may sting at first, but the sting will disappear if the job is good and it will pay back for years of enjoyment. Pay cheap and it may disappoint you every day.' My Cerbera is a shitbox to look at, but it's a sweet machine underneath.

nice cars...but it looks like yours shares the same electric problems than mine: the door & window opening looks to be damaged at yours: once you press the mirror bottom, the window should lower a few inches, than the door should pop open. after the door has been shut, the window should automatically go up in upper position. this topic is one of the major weakest point in this cars electric. another advise: bypass the immobilizer...it will only cause trouble longterm. its behind the helmet-shelf (back seats).
@AaronsEccentricGarage2 жыл бұрын
No problems actually. The battery was disconnected and when reconnected, the system automatically goes into lock and rolls up the windows. The folks at the shop left the key in the car. Once we used the secret way to get in. Got the key and unlocked the car, it worked exactly as it should.

Getting parts is going to be a nightmare
@AaronsEccentricGarage5 ай бұрын
@BlatentlyFakeName not really! Aside from the proprietary parts, TVR was notorious for using off the shelf bits. IE the altenator came off a 95 Land Rover Discovery. The brakes are made by AP Racing. Things that are proprietary to the car, are readily available in the UK, but take a couple weeks to arrive. The most difficult pieces to obtain: front and rear window glass. Can't get those in the USA. Hagerty said for me to order it from the UK and they'll reimburse me the cost. 🤔
