Just something to keep in mind when you're getting your samoyed groomed! -Do NOT shave it, unless if it's for medical purposes. The dog is double coated, which means it's coat goes against both the cold AND the heat. If the dog is shaved, it could cause physical as well as mental harm. Please make sure to specify when you go to get her groomed!! It happened to my uncle's samoyed and I want to spread awareness before it happens to other people!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

せぶ Yes! I have a samoyed and she went into surgery for her back. The vet asked us if it was alright to shave around the area she was havung surgery. We said yes. When we pucked pickedup Bindi after her surgery she was bald all over! They shaved her completely. It took 2 years for all her fur to grow back and when it did it wsd ruined

Bladamone Sauce but why would they shave her everywhere? If they have surgery they HAVE to be shaved don’t they? That’s the only time I’d ever consider letting someone shave her because her life is more important than her fur...

They would have to shave the area of where the surgery is being performed. The only reason they should shave /all/ of the fur is when the dog has a skin disease!

Stacy Heyman yes for surgery they have to be shaved. The vet told us they where going to shave the area they need to operate on which you know fair enough go ahead she needs this. But i have no idea what went through vets mind when shaving her as she came back bald. Her legs, tummy, back, tail, chest it was all gone.

pyjamasholics unfortunately it isn’t!!! With COVID, the good breeders here in America are all slammed with everyone wanting a puppy since we’re all at home and I can’t find any!!! Since they only have about 2-3 litters a year so I’m looking at next year as well🥺

She’s wonderful! I have two, one named Alaska-2,5 years old and her daughter-Elne (which means female Reindeer) 5 months old. By the way I sincerely suggest to feed your sammy raw diet instead of kibble, we switched when Alaska was ~9 months, even if you buy best of the best brands if it’s well balanced (muscle parts, bit of bony parts, sub meats etc) it’s still so much better for your dog especially these archaic North breeds

Im getting a normal Siberian husky with beautiful blue eyes😍 Samoyed’s are cute but more fur to deal with and i don’t feel like trying to keep the white fur clean. Cause that means barely having any fun with dirt and no digging. (Is what Huskies usually do)but can’t wait to get my Husky😁😁😁

TheTrueCloutGod hahaha the fur is almost worse on a husky according to my friends who have them! Boki digs all the time and loves mud and puddles! It either dried and falls off or we wash her :)

Question: how is she coping with the climate in NZ? I live in Holland and have a Malamute mix and here, the avarage 20°C is a bit too warm for him.

what's ignorant about it?? yes there are dogs in shelters and yes they should be adopted but only by people who can risk taking in a dog with possible temperament issues and health problems. however, even if everyone did adopt, there would still be animals suffering by the people who don't want puppies but can't sell them cause no one will buy them. instead they get mistreated, neglected, abused, etc the list goes on. it's a problem that you can't solve without increasing another so don't force people or make them feel bad for buying puppies because not everyone is able to risk adoption

izzy adoption isn't a risk. There are tons of puppies in shelters that haven't been abused that you can adopt that won't have baggage. This is about supply and demand. If people demand breeders to be in business, they will keep doing it. If everyone were to refuse dog breeders then they would be out of business and forced to find another job. As far as those "oops litters" - those puppies should be free of cost and people should have the foresight to spay/neuter their pets. Anyone who doesn't is a self centered idiot. Unless you're saving an endangered breed, there is absolutely no good reason to be breeding puppies, much less for money.

You can get a samoyed from a breeder. However there are so many that are adopted it is best to do that
