Besides the lack of the soft game, seems to me that so much of shot making and setting up shots is achieved with good footwork. Footwork is so underrated and it's really tough to make good consistent shots, be they drives or dinks, without good footwork. Especially true at the NVZ. The team in white also depends too much on holding the paddle with both hands, so that some really easy shots to hit seem to go to waste.

The game seemed to be played in an MLP style and was perhaps closer than initially you thought, with a score of probably like 21-15. The team wearing white scored 6 consecutive points towards the end of the game.

The reason she was not farther up towards the net at the 6:20 mark is because her opponent was making contact with the ball before she could make it all the way forward. Split stepping as your opponent hits the ball gives you the ability to change directions. Both of their following shot were a bit high so staying back for better defense is common practice at higher levels.

True. You have to have the green light to move forward. If not, you have to do exactly what you said. Split step and get ready to defend.
