Even when your down in scoring you should continue to play your best. Each partner should be encouraging the other. Must show positive enthusiasm throughout. My partner and I have come from far behind a good number of times by encouragement and hard play.

My first tournament in racquetball I was losing 2-10 and we played to 15. I turned it around then, and won 15-10. I’ll have to say it’s never too late.

I used to get angry at myself when I make so many mistakes but learned quickly that doesn’t help when the game needs your attention. Now I just tell myself to forget about the error and move on to the next point. When I have a partner that is not doing great I usually don’t care for I don’t play tournaments just pick up games at a park but f I was playing competitive I probably would have just let the game go and hope can win the next one when it’s 7-0.

The day I watched this video I went to play pickleball a best of 3 series and we had the exact same issue being behind by a lot the first 2 games why are they open the door put back together@@pickleballpick-apart9787

These teams are so bad, I fasted forward after the 1st minute to half way, but no better. Too many unforced error. They can’t be playing at a 3.5 level when they can’t even serve the ball in.

Well they claim to me. Again like I said, The rating system is flawed.

When a game starts with one player on the serving team out of position at the NVZ and the other team doesn’t recognize this and either say something or return the serve directly to him, their level on both sides is less than 3.0. I’ve been down 10-0 and won. I’ve been down by 6 or 7 points and turned the game around many times. Don’t let your low score get in your head and adversely affect your game. Easier said than done though. Last rec game, an opponent said one of my serves was illegal and that affected the rest of my game and games with others after that. I couldn’t get it out of my head and that’s on me. My opponent likes to argue about everything and clearly doesn’t understand the 3 rules specific to a volley serve only apply at the point the paddle contacts the ball.

Honestly the team in the near court is just better. I would tell my partner to calm down, play smart, minimize mistakes, and don’t overcompensate.

The losing team: I find it hard to believe they are 3.5s. Rory, you told us that was a Semi-final; it must have been a very small draw.... But ... to answer the question posed ... when your game is falling apart go back to the basics. Serve and Return to the CENTER of the box. During points, target the halfway point on the center line with EVERY shot (until you've each reached the NVZ). This gives you the maximum margin for error. COMMUNICATE and encourage your partner CONSTANTLY. Strive to get to the NVZ as quickly as possible and aim for dinking each ball 10 TIMES on each point before you even THINK about a speed-up or winner. In other words, play your way into the game. [Psst! Rec players, don't enter tournaments more than half a point above your rating. You'll only frustrate yourselves -- and your opponents.]

Mailing it in after whatever timeframe you establish is a very dangerous thing to start doing as it can become habitual…. By NOT using that mindset and if you can turn a 4-10 score into a win, you’ll realize it’s possible, but you have to grind at it. Although, I’m not sure that’s a mentality a lot of people have these days. Funny, the more I watch these vids, people’s pickleball play has strong connection to current society trends - lazy, give up, argumentative with opponents, lack of encouraging with teammates, questionable line calls (cheating), consumed with looking for “illegal serves/shots”….😂
