I had an F150 long bed some years back, and shift from 1st to second took like half a second maybe 3/4ths of a second and first gear only get you up to 20 maybe 25mph at best... starting in second gear and getting the engine to spin up a bit so don’t big down probably a smart move, just Tanner here may have been too aggressive with his launch causing 2nd gear to run shorter as already pushing limited RPM range and it to wasted a few feet worth of torque turning tire into smoke and skid marks.

Other than the fact a lot turbo 400 transmissions built for drag racing have a trans brake on both 1st and second gears so that if the surface is not very good, you can leave in second to avoid losing traction.

Cummins is not built for speed it's built for torque. being a 6 cylinder each cylinder has more volume then each of A 8 cylinder . 12 valves aka the old mechanicals only pushed 250 horsepower but has 450 pounds of torque. There Is a reason they put them in everything from skid steers to trains

These guys obviously know nothing about trucks. It doesn't matter how many cylinders you have. A 15L Cummins has SIX Cylinders and has up to 2050 ft lbs of torque. Now the new Cummins has 385hp and 850 ft lbs of torque and trumps the Powerstroke, according to Diesel Power Magazine. Not sure what it does against the LML Duramax, which outperforms the Powerstroke.

Hurts seeing the Cummins lose it but Adam is correct, the big advantage of the Cummins inline 6 is its torque-power curve. A duramax or ford will lug down at lower RPM’S easier than a Cummins just due to the nature of how a v8 makes power vs and i6. Cummins has always been very good for low end grunt and longevity tho because of it, lower revs to achieve the Same torque figures, less wear. There all great trucks, yes I’m biased to Cummins because I own one. Might not be the fastest empty, but loaded heavy is when she shines. But, I’ve seen 7.3’s and 6.6’s with a little work done to them that’ll run right with my 5.9 almost off the start. Mine is basically stock with the only modifications being a airdog lift pump and straight pipe. But, hell im just a diesel guy in general. I love pretty much anything diesel.... that isn’t a 5.7 olds or 6.4 Powerstroke. Lol.

I love how people will deliberately come to a TG US video, news article, or social media post just to state their useless opinion. The reboot of TG UK in 2003(?) was largely responsible for an entire generation of future car guys (and gals) which, naturally, spawned a ton of other automotive-related content. If they had named this show anything other than Top Gear it would've been an OK car show and certainly one of the better History channel originals. But people expected Top Gear UK 2.0 and then complained that they did "everything" that the UK version did, then complained about the original content as well. There is no way to win with the haters, I'm just happy to have automotive content to break up all of the reality shows and political BS.

The thing most people overlook though is that trucks are not about speed, they're about torque; pulling power. Fords are nice, but their frames are no where near as strong as the Chevy or the Dodge, and that is what turns me away from the Ford. I also prefer the inline 6 in the Dodge because inlines have more torque than V-blocks; and you just can't beat a cummins.

Chevy/GM is the best in my opinion, The Duramax+Allison trans= Best combo! The Ram though is probably going to be the best at pulling because of the inline 6 but they sometimes have transmission problems. The Powerjoke is just trash in my opinion, too many problems. They are all great trucks choose the one you like instead of arguing.

smp_4 p Nissan's are great My friend has a titan I really like it, but I need something with a little more power to pull my toy hauler. if i didn't need to pull that then I would probably get a Toyota tundra or something like that. Nissan and Toyota are coming out with a diesel version of the tundra and titan! I cant wait for those. Both trucks are going to get a Cummins turbo diesel.

Bruh, the dodge has a Allison trans lol. The cummins makes more power than both and will live longer. Now in the 2020 3500 you can get a aisin trans which is basically a very beefy toyota trans that allows the truck to make 1000 ft pounds to the wheels

Also the only issue dodge had with there trans was the secound gen which is the 95-02 trucks. Before and after that they didn't have a issue

Lol it was all staged to begin with, the cummins in the dodge and it's transmission is far stringer than both trucks and has a higher payload. The dodge is probably faster as well if everything wasn't staged to get that pay out from ford

It's an inline cummins diesel it is quite a fair comparison,they all have the same amount of power basically and the cummins actually has the biggest Pistons that's why it keeps up with power and pulling capacity, also cummins is one of the biggest diesel Engine makers in the world they are in everything from Planes to boats to tractors,they did what they had to the i line 6 to compete with the v8s, the dodge cummins has been an inline for a long time
