YES, and this starts in how we teach our children gratitude. Teach them grace and gratitude when they are very little - so they don't struggle with always needing more in their adulthood. Teach them empathy for others less fortunate, and teach them 'want vs. need'. It all begins when they are young.

Why is everyone so obsessed about chasing happiness? In my opinion, this is a very narrowed way of thinking. Feelings are so multidimensional - why choose one above all others? What is about being satisfied with your life, grateful for a special friendship, proud of an achievement, excited for going to yoga class, sad because a book touched our heart, relieved because we managed to go through a tough situation - or the best: just feeling incredible alive after facing and then overcoming one of our fears? There are feelings teach us so much more and are more important than happiness. Just saying. It ist not meant to be criticism, because I love your videos and you really are an inspiration. If my thoughts sound harsh, please consider that I am not a native speaker - it is not meant to be rude.

Yea I totally like your response. I suppose it's more about contentment. This chasing of happiness has become a toxic travel for some. I love the image you created about how life is just all of our experiences and emotions. Not one more valuable than the other. And that happiness maybe is over rated or misinterpreted.. Pushed to be better than others. I remember times where I was just content with what I had and didn't look at others all the time like how it happened when social media started... thank you Siaphan.

I love that you talked about the expectation vs. reality issue that so many struggle with. Theodore Roosevelt said "Comparison is the thief of joy." and I find it to be so true. So, thank you for this video! I'm grateful to you and other vloggers like you who help me stay grounded and real, who help me love myself for who and what I am.

I'm almost in tears of emotion, a friend of mine just made me feel so bad, minutes ago, because she's pregnant, she has my same age, and she told me things like that I SHOULD have a baby already, she literally said ''don't be the grandmother of your baby'', and I'm only 23 years old... I don't have a degree yet, I don't have a I do not have job stability, even mental and emotional stability, I'm starting Psychologist career the next month, and I want to graduate, THEN i want to have kids, probably I will marry before that because I have a beautiful and stable realationship with my boyfriend, we live together and we want to get married, but, it's so annoying how people, how society, even your friends, wants to put you all the time through the stereotype of having a degree at a certain age, to be married, to have kids, to have a house and a car and a dog etc etc... it's a lot of pressure for us the young people, and for not so young people... questions like 'why you don't have this or why don't you do this yet?'' make us so sick! every single human being has their own rythm to do the things in life, and the reasons why we don't do it, sometimes we don't have money, we don't feel ready emotionally, there could be millions of reasons... we don't know how is the other person life, why should we question them or hurry them? I really want to be a mother, have a baby, or two, or three, but, I am not ready! I want to have my degree, my work, economic stability, emotional too... I have some dreams to fulfill before becoming a mother... etc This video made my day and makes me feel again peace in my heart and in my sould. THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR COMING AT THE EXACT TIME! lot of hugs

I had very similar thoughts lately. And I realized that chasing happiness could and often makes us even more upset when we fail in something or when the achieved goal doesn’t bring this highly expected happiness... just as you said. In my opinion we should rather concentrate on being good humans - for others and for ourselves - that means kind, helpful, affectionate, creative ... and I believe that by doing so the happiness will come naturally at some point.

1) The opportunities in life that have brought me to where I am today 2) My dog who is always so so happy when she sees me 3) People putting in the effort to create things that improve my life - authors of books, some amazing KZbin content creators like you, movie producers, serie producers It's incredibly easy for me to come up with so many more things I am grateful for in life. I just have to look up here in my home, see the sun outside, the place where I live, some of the gifts I have been given, but also my family who are always supportive, my supercute nephew who is just the best baby ever, friends that accept me for who I am etc etc.

I love your videos. Seeing others doing great and beautiful isn't a motive to feel down and depressed, quite the contrary, it is inspiring and motivating, the better everything becomes, the better everything feels about life and cosmos. Yeah, I can recognize that I too am the If... then psychology about happiness, but I can recognize as you say that happiness is something we all can tap into any moment and that it is there with us at every step of the journey hiding behind the ideals. Thank you attitude is something I am working too. Thanks for your videos, you bring beauty into KZbin Pick Up Limes channel. EK

I am thankful for my family for always listening, for time for never stopping and letting me stay down and wallow alone forever, and for the sun and warmth (and my cat)
