What are you looking for when you launch the wind test balloon? What determines go/no-go?

the main thing is wind direction. We want to make sure we dont run into any power lines etc that are beside us or behind us.

I don't think that you comprehend the power of an explosion from that much hydrogen. You are in a room filed with non-intrinsically safe equipment, and who knows what the relative humidity is.

There is. There is a new non-licensed band on 22 meters which will allow you to receive position reports and it will plot those positions to the aprs map. You can buy you a tracker for around $150. the balloon will cost about $20 and you will need to get some helium or hydrogen. It takes very little. right now w5kub-112 has been up for 252 days and around the world 11 times.
