That's what was said to me, also, back in the day! When career day came around I was asked what I wanted to be and I answered, "A Marine." The teacher asked, "A marine biologist?" And I answered, "No. A United States Marine." Said teacher was my Trigonometry teacher, I was holding a 4.0 and helped her with my fellow students if they had problems. My Father was a 30 yr Soldier and retired as a CSM. I never did join the Corp, I followed my Father and joined the Army. None of my teachers knew I was an Army brat.

Blindly choosing the Military over education? So I guess everyone in the Intel field, Navy Nuke specialists, Officers with BA's, ROTC and Military Acadamy graduates are uneducated. Lets look at Joe Depinto, the CEO of 7-11 a multi billion dollar corporation, he was a West Point graduate and an Army Artillery Officer bet he's uneducated and struggling financially in life right now. How about the cyber Intel specialist, bet they are uneducated and will have no career path when they get out of the Military. WOW, obviously this guy hasn't had to interact with military people on a regular basis. I'm retired US Navy and there is a high percentage of military personnel who have college degrees. The current US military is the most educated military in the world. The competition for the higher enlisted ranks almost mandates that you have a college degree or you my not be competitive enough to advance with those who have one. In order to become an Officer a college degree is required, unless you advance from the lower ranks through an officer program, and even then if you don't have one you're competing with those who have one. Not saying he shouldn't be a teacher anymore, but his motives and actions were WAY out of line. If he had any real intelligence and humility he would do his research, hold a press conference, then apologize to the military and the community that he's offended and embarrassed.
