Here is my question to you: What about COLORED vinyl? I've also noticed some issues with colored discs and I have a bunch of them! I've recently bought picture / colored discs from Mastadon, Interpol, Rage Against the Machine, Tool (10,000 Days European pressing), Interpol, Fall Out Boy and Puscifer (the most disappointing as this is my favorite release from 2018). The only reason I'd consider buying one is just for the looks, likely purchasing either another copy on black vinyl or another format. Not only do that not sound as good, but I'd always worry that I'd accidentally scratch up the picture. I'm really not enough of a collector as of yet to worry with picture discs though. When pressed right, no, they don't always suck. I own Sick and Panic by Macintosh Plus (Yes, the same woman who made Floral Shoppe!) on vinyl and it was only pressed on a clear record picture disc and is a 12 inch single that runs at 45 rpm. If it's a single that's just around 12 minutes, they didn't have to press anything on the other side. So, to have better sound quality, they reversed the artwork and put it on the other side of the record, and because it's clear, you can see the artwork and still have good sound quality. Pretty cool!

I'm really not that ready to spend that kind of money on a record, but I recently found out there will be a repressing in January. The problem with that, is the only record available is a double LP picture disc. My setup isn't that good at all, and I'm wondering if it's fine to get a picture disc if my setup is just made up of things I found at a thrift store.

I got the O Brother Where Art Thou? picture disk. I usually steer clear of picture disks but with the blue grass type of music I knew pop sounds wouldn’t bother me, in fact it only adds to that old timey feel. I can’t think of any other situation where i could be okay with it though

Tool got into Vinyl and now I sub to your channel. Simple as that.

I think Taylor Swift’s Reputation sounds phenomenal for a picture disc. There’s some surface noise, but it doesn’t ruin the experience like Tool’s Lateralus.

For aligning the cartridge on an lp 120, do I have to use a Stevenson protractor or will Baerwald work just as good?
@vinyleyezz6 жыл бұрын
I’d recommend the Stevenson, it’s worked well for me!

How do tool do that? Like there's transparency, how they were able to have transparent parts in between the paper thing?

I have a few but I haven't got a high end system so don't mind the fact that it isn't the best. But can you find out if possible why 12 & 7 inch singles don't have inner sleeves? Thanks if you do find out

Very nice video! I like picture discs, but I can see why they aren't the best. Also, song recommendation: The Band Camino - Daphne Blue

My problem is that it seems like a lot of picture discs don't come with the artwork or include the credits or lyrics as well. I also don't understand why they put them in a cheap plastic sleeve. I would much rather have the regular lp so I can get the complete artwork which most picture discs don't have.

Picture discs usually come in those terrible clear plastic covers that will leak vapor that sticks to the record. Pretty hard to get rid of it too. I buy vinyl to listen to so try to avoid them if I can.

I have 3 picture discs that are 200 grams each, and they sound amazing. They obviously don't have 2 thin sheets, and the picture looks great, so they can make these with good sound quality. 2 of the discs i have played over 1000 times, and they still sound great.

I only really pick up picture discs as collectibles or if they’re cheap. I’ve found that picture discs are often cheaper than the black pressings.
