Right!? This isn't far off from some of the hipsters I have seen around me. I been listening and collecting vinyl since middle school and my pride is my audio technica turntable and early 90s Kenwood audio system and if a friend came over with a Crosley or victrola suitcase player and tried to play one of my zeppelin or Beatles on it I would skin them alive.

All of my friends have the suitcase player. I feel so bad for the records. I have a Victrola but its not the suitcase one, its a replica of something. It might be clunky af but at least it doesnt shred my records and look like garbage.

I am not letting some random person play my records but I do visit other friends who collect vinyl and listen to theirs and they come and listen to mine. Only time I have had an issue with this was with an former friend who tried to switch my UK Apple press Beatles white album for a much less expensive Canadian Apple press while I wasn't looking. Sure they play the same thing but the UK pressing is 3X more valuable.

I bought and own a record player mainly because my mother owns (owned, I claimed them as my own) a lot of old vinyl records and I love it but the truth is that you are paying a lot more for a whole lot of inconvenience but a nice aesthetic. Also the main thing for me about owning vinyl records is it feels like I actually own the music as a physical possession

@@UnimpressedGoose music does sound better on vinyl, it’s uncompressed (unlike Spotify or Apple Music), also people just like the whole crackly pop sound of it, even if you’re not a huge vinyl fan it’s one of the best ways to get high quality versions of songs (still expensive though!)
