I think a system for video-footage and for photos, would be pretty different.. Right?

I am a DAMM student at Kings College London. I am just finishing my first semester. I have a background in Interior Architecture and Design. What sort of hard skills do you recommend to learn to secure a good job in the Industry? I want to move to USA after I graduate.

What are your thoughts on using memory cards (CF, SD, etc) as a backup source? As prices drop for memory cards, it becomes more feasible to simply store the cards (After they are cataloged).
@Picturepark2 жыл бұрын
Thats a great questions, but it requires some more details on the case or setup. Of course, you can create backups on cards. SD cards are meant to be written to, so you can write your files as backup to them. Flash medium wears out over time, but modern flash media last very long. SD cards are non-volatile, therefore the data will survive, even without being plugged in for many years, if not decades. You just want to consider: - Accessibilty in case of failure - who needs to access these cards & when? - Disaster recovery - are the cards safely stored in different locations?

which are the top software's available for DAM in the market?
@Picturepark2 жыл бұрын
There are several lists you can consult e.g. one of the latest: www.digitaljournal.com/pr/digital-asset-management-market-share-2022-growth-drivers-demand-status-future-developments-leading-players-with-regional-analysis-segmentation-forecast-to-2029 I would choose key player #4 😜

@@Picturepark thank you, can i use AEM as a complete DAM solution ?
@Picturepark2 жыл бұрын
@@PramodSalianK Welcome. 👍 The system you want to use should meet your requirements. AEM started as CMS, with a focus on visuals, and DAM features were added to offer better file management capabilities. You can use it as a DAM but you may experience shortcomings (document, excel support, click-heavy UI, issues with large data sets, maybe the price at some point). In turn, you also find great image modification/manipulation features and portal capabilities. It really depends on your needs. I suggest you check your requirements against their features and against other features to find the best fit.

Iteration workflow in dam please explain
@Picturepark2 жыл бұрын
Iterative workflows as in agile processes? Can you elaborate a bit more? An Agile iteration is a short period of time (sometimes called a "sprint") in which a section of work is created/developed/tested - finished to a point where it is ready to release. This is usually not the final product, but a part of it. Using agile processes in DAM is easy and highly recommended. 1. Create a schema with all criteria of "finished work" e.g. scope, persona, minimum requirements, tester, approver, epic/topic/project 2. Create a virtual item and assign the schema 3. Add all definitions to it 4. Add another schema with tracking information - who does it, how long did it take, any obstacles 5. Add your finished work 6. DAM automation can then check the content & inform the tester 7. DAM automation can inform the approver - when tests are successful or inform the creator - when tests failed 8. You can upload all versions of the work and link them together, marking the final work as "ready to go" In the DAM you can permit the final work differently than its versions, so you can keep track of the process. After validation of the process (how long did it take, what are typically obstacles, what went well, what went wrong) you can archive versions (or remove them completeley).

Is there ( open source app.) for DAM? If possible Or it is not open source..there is no problem
@Picturepark3 жыл бұрын
Picturepark is a DAM where you can easily upload, edit, search, and distribute your digital content. picturepark.com/solutions/digital-asset-management There are other DAMs on the market. Maybe the DAM Playbook is of help to you as it offers (when live) the possibility to match your requirements with the strength of the "perfect" vendor. www.thedamplaybook.com/

Can I use SharePoint as a basic DAM?
@philip1983rolf5 жыл бұрын
Personally, I would never use SharePoint as a DAM - you will miss crucial features such as advanced file conversion, proper metadata handling, easy distribution mechanism & sharing; proper preview functions; etc - most DAM connectors simply allow SP users to access and utilize the content from the DAM in SharePoint;
